Remote Waterfall Cabin at Swiftwater Acres
Deep in a lush oak forest, on the bank of Bushkill Creek sits this hidden oasis. This is simply THEE most private abode in the entire area. Situated just feet from the water, the falls can be seen and heard from every room within the cabin’s charming, rustic interior. This spectacular 45 acre parcel is set within a vast reserve of state land: an oasis within an oasis. Just 90 minutes from NYC, this is a truly sublime atmosphere, perfect for those seeking a rejuvenating and inspiring getaway. The space A cozy, rustic cabin in a unique setting… The Bushkill Creek originates from a mountain spring at an elevation of about 1500 ft. From there, the cabin is the very first home on it’s course. It is, therefore, the highest in elevation of any home on the creek. Here the water is untouched, full of brook trout when in season, and extremely cold. The creek draws an array of wildlife, from otters to owls, even an occasional bear. Beneath a canopy of oak, hemlock and tulip poplar, the cabin’s wrap around deck is the perfect platform for relaxing to the sounds of the falls, grilling, chilling, reading, writing, surfing, strumming, yoga, and more. Inside, the intimate living / dining room features a wood burning stove, hardwood floors, and the original wall slats that were milled from hemlocks grown on the property. Off the living room, the kitchen is well lit by three windows. It features ceramic tile, a nice big work space, a collection of pots and pans, a gas range, drinking water, and a refrigerator / freezer. In the bathroom you’ll find a full tub, shower, and all the basic necessities. Separated from the living room by a set of French doors, the bedroom features hardwood floors, closet space, and a super comfortable queen bed. The cabin’s size and layout is a perfect fit for couples. Amazing activities, wondrous sights, hearty food and drink... The cabin is located near “Stairway Lake”, a spring fed lake, home to some really heavy large mouth bass, and a spectacular view of the valley. Accessible by foot only, you can hike there straight from the cabin or shorten your trip by driving to one of three nearby trailheads. The magnificent Delaware River is just a few minutes downhill and offers amazing scenery, river trips (kayak, canoe, or tube), and more great fishing. The river continues through Delaware Water Gap National Park which features some REALLY impressive waterfalls, great hikes, and a bike path that traverses the entire park. The historic village of Milford is peppered with attractions including Grey Towers, antique stores, and galleries. There’s even a local history museum celebrating the town’s role in launching the US Conservation Movement. There are also many great drink and dining experiences in the area, from casual Mexican to the renowned Hotel Fauchere to the trendy Fox ’n Hare gastropub. And Woodbury Commons Outlets is right on the way back to NYC. You’ll find tons more to see and do in the information provided at the cabin. Guest access Guests have access to the entire cabin aside from a storage room off the living room. Other things to note -The driveway is about 1/4 mile long, it is not paved, pretty much any car will be just fine. However if you're booking during the winter time, I STRONGLY suggest driving an All-Wheel-Drive vehicle. An AWD vehicle not only assures your trouble-free arrival but also your ability to enjoy the surrounding area to it's fullest. -There is a large shed (Pole Barn) about 100 yards from the cabin. There are no occupied dwellings on the property, it is all yours. -Cell service can be iffy. The WiFi connection is excellent and can be utilized by your cell phone for most purposes.
