Situated in a safe middle-class neighborhood, our shared space might occasionally have a half-full garbage can in the kitchen or bathroom, or you may find a dust bunny or two under the bed or behind the toilet—areas you'd need a flashlight to inspect. All regularly accessible surfaces in your room and bathroom are wiped down before any new arrival. We mention this light-hearted disclosure as, on two occasions, overly exacting guests believed their standards were not met and complained to Airbnb before allowing us to happily correct minor oversights! Please be understanding and respectful when you decide to rent a room in a person's home instead of a hotel. Please see our reviews and have reasonable expectations. We are not the Waldorf Astoria or The Plaza Hotel. Heck, we're not even the Holiday Inn. We do not impose a cleaning fee nor seek compensation for the typical wear and tear—think minor scuffs on desks, the accidental dropping of plates, or the occasional soy sauce spill in kitchen nooks. We simply ask that you tidy up after yourself and inform us if anything needs attention so we can fix or replace it promptly. If you're the person who fills the trash can to the top, please be comfortable taking out the trash and putting a new bag in the can during your stay. **Regarding air conditioning:** Our hallway lacks windows, making it impossible to install a permanent air conditioner. Sorry if we experience a heat wave while you're staying with us. However, each room during the summer months is equipped with a window air conditioner unit, which is removed during winter. If you would need it installed before the warmer season, it shouldn't take us more than a few minutes to pull it out of the hallway closet across from your room.
