Enjoy a family friendly modern farmhouse nestled in the mountains with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths. Indulge in relaxing country living on 5 acres of gardens overlooking a pond with nearby swimming, kayaking, cross country skiing, or take a 10 min jaunt to Wilmington, Marlboro Music Festival or 16 miles to skiing at Mt Snow. This house offers central heat, sleeps 6, high speed internet with laptop space, TV with streaming, washer/dryer, lots of towels, well equipped kitchen, & a luxury bath. The space If your looking to be in the country with fox and eagles but don't want to be so far out that it is inconvenient this is the place. We are located on a tar road minutes from the village of Jacksonville across from a pond backed by more than 10 acres. This centrally heated modern farmhouse was recently renovated except for the screened in porch and mudroom/laundry area. We tried to design beautifully practical areas that incorporated modern usage with historical farmhouse themes. The mudroom/laundry area has a washer dryer, an on demand gas hot water heater and is a great place for skis and parkas. This leads into a fully equipped kitchen with a farmer's sink and is a space where any meal gourmet to casual can be made with ease. Antique replica faucets, new appliances including a dishwasher, all utensils, dishes, pots and pans, and basic cooking staples are available. Our butcher block countertops and wood floors maintain a farmhouse character with practical environmental applications. The kitchen opens into the dining/ living room area with a full bath and a downstairs bedroom/study with high speed internet, offering a place to work with your laptop. The downstairs bath offers a luxurious huge 2 person tiled spa glass shower with 3 shower heads and a double sink quartz vanity. Upstairs there is a yoga room at the top of the stairs along with 2 more bedrooms adjoined by a bathroom. A nice set up for a young family. The back bedroom upstairs has a desk for another laptop workspace and electric heat. 2 bedrooms have queen size beds with all natural fiber linens and the the back bedroom upstairs has 2 twin beds that can be made up as a king size bed if so desired. All area rugs are wool; all curtains are cotton or linen. Outside there is a lovely area set up with wicker furniture overlooking the pond where you can watch eagles and hawks gliding. We have a gas grill where you can have a barbecue outside the screened in porch. You might enjoy walking into the back fields were there is a small orchard, fire pit and assorted gardens including some hugeloculture raised garden beds. We are 2/10 mi to the village which is accessible by the road or through the woods along a snowmobile trail. You also might like to walk down the street to the small waterfall and enjoy the ducks and geese on the pond in the summer or drive 4 miles on rte 100 S to Harriman reservoir/Whitingham Lake where you can swim, kayak or cross county ski. Guest access We are located on a country tar road walking distance to the quaint village of Jacksonville where scenic rte 100 runs. We have off street parking to the left of the house just past the 2 big bushes. It looks like lawn but it isn't. Wilmington is 10 min, Mt. Snow(16 mi), Stratton ski area (28mi), Greenfield MA(25min), Bennington, Vt, North Adams, Williamstown Ma (Clark Museum)and Brattleboro, Vt (35 min). Jacksonville has a general store, a pub, and a lovely bakery. Other things to note We are very health conscious. Not only do we do Air B&B's 5 step enhanced cleaning but we also have a high end virus filter on our hot air furnace. When we put together this house we tried to reduce toxic products and to be environmentally conscious. We used green guard certified products where ever possible. It is amazing how much plastic is used in the world and this house has been an experiment in how we could reduce our consumption of it, from trading lamented countertops for wood and quartz, to using natural fibers in our linens, curtains, and area rugs, to reducing the use of plastic products in our kitchen and baths. We have not always succeeded. Sometimes it seemed more practical to have a plastic lined trash cans so we could just rinse them out and avoid the use of throw away plastic bags and a plastic pump bottle in the shower so no one got hurt. However, we have significantly reduced our use by using Gove cleaning products, Apple Valley shampoo bars, and no plastic bags in our trash. I hope you enjoy our experiment and as you use our things think about your counterpart back home and what its made of. Registration number 0402654
