The Shady Rest Cottage in historic McCloud
The Shady Rest is an original Mill house built in 1924 for workers at the McCloud Mill. We have tried to keep the rustic charm of the home with the original wood floors and countertops, farmhouse sink, and a clawfoot tub. There is a large fenced yard and a cozy front porch to enjoy the mountain air. It is located at the end of a quiet street .8 miles from HooHoo Park and 1.4 miles from Dance Country or the McCloud Hotel. A short drive gets you to the Ski Park, McCloud Falls, hiking and fishing. The space The house is about 1100 square feet with a front porch and a small back deck for barbecuing. The laundry room is equipped with a washer and dryer. The large yard is completely fenced. We have a horseshoe pit set up and plenty of room for other outdoor fun. Other things to note This place is not fancy. The wood floors are squeaky and we have some original funky old doorknobs. There is no dishwasher, so you will be washing dishes by hand. McCloud is a very small mountain town. We have decent internet, but probably not what you are used to at home. There is a kerosene heater and a woodstove with plenty of firewood out the back door for chilly mountain nights. There are 2 window air conditioners and some table-top fans for the warm summer days.
