If guests are visiting restaurants, parks, and/or venues near the river, we recommend walking. When driving to a place in the city, there is always ample parking nearby. Guests can park in one of two locations. First, street parking is available directly in front of the Dunham-Hunt house on Cedar Ave. and secondly, there is a 24/7 public parking lot across the street with access off of 3rd St. This parking lot is located to the west (left side when facing the house). Access to the house and rooms is provided through the August application that is downloadable on android or apple devices. Other things to note The rooms are on the second level of the house. You must use stairs. This house is a pre-civil war home. It was built in 1841 and was the first brick home built in the City of St. Charles. Originally built by Bela T. Hunt, the house was heated in the 1840s by a single fireplace and its kitchen was in the basement with it's bathroom outside. Not to worry though, the house has been modernized and includes a newly renovated and spacious full bath for guests and a central heating/cooling system.
