The Hay Loft sits in the middle of 43 beautiful acres, overlooking our working hay farm with stunning views of the Shenandoah Mountains. We are conveniently located near restaurants, vineyards, antiquing, battlefields, golf resorts, ski resorts and caverns. Spacious rustic/luxe suite w/gas fireplace; king bed and bathroom with tiled shower, Keurig coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven, small refrigerator, no freezer, dishes and and outdoor gas grill and indoor gas fireplace. Outdoor firepit. The space Wake up to the beautiful sunrise over the mountains from you private balcony or bed as you sip your coffee. As the neighboring farms come alive, you can enjoy the sound of roosters crowing and cows calling to their calves. Take a walk or a bike ride along our dirt road and you may catch a glimpse of our hay farming; from cutting, raking or baling hay to unloading from the wagons into our barn. In the evening, relax on your balcony or by the firepit with a glass of wine and soak in the vistas of the sun setting over the barn and mountains. We have two farm dogs, one being Tedder a Maremma livestock guardian dog who may bark periodically at night as he keeps away bear and coyotes. We have our loving chocolate lab Grover who loves all the attention given to her by our guests. She is people friendly and will likely greet you upon your arrival though she might be a little shy at first. She and Tedder do bark occasionally at night / we are in the country with coyotes, deer and on rare occasions a bear so they bark to keep us safe and predators away. Country living: The Hay Loft sits on and next to 200 acres of hay and corn fields, and woods and trees. There are insects and animals in the country. You will occasionally see flies, lady bugs, stink bugs, mosquitoes, ants, etc outdoors, be mindful of open doors as some insects can get inside if doors and windows are left open by guests. We clean and sanitize thoroughly after each guest but you may on occasion see an insect inside (stink bugs usually) which is beyond our control. They are more prevalent in the spring (March and April). We provide a hand vac so you can suck it up in the vacuum for us to dispose the dead insect later. The home is insulated and an insect treatment sprayed around the exterior of the home on a monthly basis. When it warms up, the stink bugs and lady bugs occasionally tend to congregate on the warm door/windows. These are small nuisances to enjoy the beauty of the mountains and valley (we also get them in our own home). We cannot control nature and do not provide refunds for acts of nature beyond our control to include a few stink bugs that may get inside the home. We have windows that attract stinkbugs ladybugs, so if you have a ladybug or stinkbug phobia this probably isn’t the place for you. This is only problem normally in the Spring. We have a pest control service to handle the problem and they use people and pet safe products. However, we never completely win the battle with nature so there may be some around. Guest access Entire Guest house, Hay Loft Deck and property. NOTE: Please do not park in front of the garage doors. There is a large designated parking area for The Hay Loft (with signs). Security Camera faces the parking/driveway area only, not on the deck. Other things to note NO CHILDREN. Due to the number of steps to the Hay Loft and deck, and and inside is NOT CHILDPROOF - we cannot host children in the Hay Loft. The décor of The Hay Loft draws inspiration from our family's Arbogast Grain Mill and historic hay equipment from our farm and barn. The Hay Loft is Non-Smoking within the building, however moderate smoking is permitted outside; please do not dispose of cigarette butts on the landscape, forests or toilet. - Wireless internet provided (limited, no streaming) - You can check yourself in anytime after 3pm with your own security code. Check out time at 11:00am NO PETS! Security Camera faces the parking/driveway area only. Country living: The Hay Loft sits on and next to 200 acres of hay and corn fields, and woods and trees.
