Bass Fishing & Family Fun, Main Channel, Traeger
Enjoy 3000sq ft, 5 bedrooms, 2 baths, and boathouse located on the main river channel. Robinson's Roost sleeps 14 in 8 separate beds, no bunks. Bed & bath linens are provided, and the white cotton sheets & towels are chlorine bleached. There is a TRAEGER PELLET GRILL on the deck outside the kitchen and a small park-style charcoal grill in the yard. Robinson's Roost has hardwood floors upstairs (bamboo, a renewable resource), 2 travertine baths, a large sunroom and password protected WiFi . The space Robinson's Roost: Your Home Away from Home Built in 1976, Robinson's Roost is a mid-century modern home located on the main channel of the Tennessee River, on Guntersville Lake. The lake was created in 1939 when the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) flooded the area, making electricity available and affordable. Lake Guntersville is Alabama's largest lake, covering 69,000 acres (28,000 ha), measuring 75 miles (120 km) in length, with 890 miles (1,424 km) of shoreline. Nestled between the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and the Cumberland Plateau, Robinson's Roost is situated in the northeast corner of Alabama, between the towns of Guntersville and Scottsboro. Hardwood floors throughout the living and dining area are protected by oriental carpets (actually the floors are stranded bamboo, environmentally friendly and a green renewable wood source). The decor continues the mid-century modern feel, echoing the personality of the house. The open floor plan of the living area incorporates the kitchen also. DirecTV (with the Genie) provides your television entertainment. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, a refrigerator with built-in ice maker, a double Electrolux Icon oven and a Thermador smooth cooktop. A microwave oven, coffee maker, electric water kettle, blender, mixer, and large Crockpot are also provided. Robinson's Roost is stocked with dinner service for 16 plus a variety of glasses and stemware. The large sunroom is furnished with ample seating and includes a table suitable for dining, board games or just enjoying one another. There is also a television located in the sunroom. Care has been taken when furnishing the five bedrooms and includes comfortable bedding and linens. 100% cotton sheets are provided, all bleached for your peace of mind. The two bathrooms are tiled with travertine and include showers (no tub). Both are equipped with hand-sprayers. Although not ADA compliant, guests enter Robinson's Roost without having to navigate steps. Two bedrooms are located on the entry level, as are the main living area, sunroom, kitchen and one bath. Three bedrooms and one bath are located downstairs. Password protected WiFi is provided for your convenience. The owner's goal is to provide a clean, comfortable, well-equipped home, a place of welcome respite from the grind of everyday life. Lodging Tax: The 14% lodging tax assessed by the state, county and city is collected by AirBnB. Guest access The deck overlooking the river sits beneath the tree canopy and features a wrought iron table and 4 chairs. During warm weather it is a relaxing venue for meals, a cuppa or simply contemplation while enjoying the water view. The boathouse is open for use. Also available are youth kayaks and an adult canoe and kayak. Fishing rods seem to be the object of much abuse making mine less than ideal. Bring your own or take your chances :) A park-style charcoal grill is provided in the yard, off the kitchen deck. There are two wooden picnic tables, one located near the grill and the other on the dock at the boathouse. There is some seating near the water's edge. Other things to note Guntersville Lake is known for its population of large-mouth bass, an excellent fresh water sport fish--and an even better dinner. Major bass fishing tournaments are held throughout the year, hosted locally and nationally. Goosepond Colony and Resort, host of many fishing tournaments, is situated approximately 1-2 miles by boat. A public boat launch is conveniently located also. Ospreys nest in the trees near the water's edge. The nestlings fledged on July 25 in 2013 (I did not see the 2014 or 2015 fledging). If you have ever witnessed the event, you know the excitement evoked by the multiple pairs of adult ospreys circling high above the nest, all whistling, calling out to the nestlings, urging them to take flight!
