Welcome to Deep Roots Retreat – where history meets hospitality! Our 1900 Cedar Hill School turned family home invites you to experience warmth in every corner. My Granny's legacy lives on, creating an authentic atmosphere. Join us for a stay that's more than just lodging – it's a warm embrace of history and hospitality. The space My Granddaddy built all of the walls, custom cabinets, and shelving transforming the schoolhouse into a home. The original hardwood floors remain as a salute to the earliest footprint of the school. My Granny welcomed everyone with open arms and a plate of food. Most notably, her homemade biscuits. Her biscuit cutters still hang in the kitchen as a tribute to her. This is a home that has been lived in, cried in, celebrated in, grieved in, but most importantly loved in. We have 2 bedrooms, each with a Queen size bed. Our sunroom contains two chaise lounges/couches that offer 2 twin sized sleeping areas. We offer a complete laundry room with all the needed amenities. You can begin each morning with coffee on the porch listening to nature and watching the hummingbirds at the feeders. "A little slice of Heaven in the middle of the country. Just wonderful in a wonderful community." ~Lance, Ohio Heating and Cooling: Tennessee weather is extremely unpredictable. We use a combination of window units and gas heat. Along with the fireplace, we have a small gas unit located in the sunroom. Kitchen: You’re welcome to have a bottle of wine or a bottle of water. Please help yourself to any snacks from the basket too. Coffee is located on the counter (Breakfast Blend and Dark Roast) and the condiments are next to it. A charging station is located to the left of the Coffee Bar. Glassware & dishes are in the upper cabinets by the stove, pots, and pans are in the lower. Silverware and gadgets are in the drawer nearest the refrigerator. Basic spices are in the cabinet nearest the stove. You’re welcome to use whatever you need. To preserve the integrity of the cabinets hand built by my grandaddy, we did not install a dishwasher. There is a dish drainer, dishwashing cloth, and Dawn in the lower cabinet by the refrigerator. Small appliances and extra trash bags are also located there. Hot water is slow to make its way to the kitchen sink, please practice patience. The cabinets and drawers to the left of the sink are for the owner Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 has a Smart TV. You can access streaming apps or watch cable tv. There is a closet available for your use. Extra pillows and blankets are located at the top of the closet. The locked closet is owner storage. Bedroom 2 has a Smart TV. You can access streaming apps or watch cable tv. It has a garment rack. You’re welcome to use the dressers in either room. Sunroom: Our Sunroom has a TV. You can access cable tv. It has two chaise lounges used for sleeping. Pillows and blankets can be found at the top of the closet in Bedroom 1. The light switch is located just above the second couch. Laundry Room: We have a washer and dryer for your convenience. Please remember to clean the dryer lint filter before each load. Laundry detergent, fabric softener, and dryer sheets are on the shelf. You will find an iron and an ironing board near the washer. The neighborhood: Our only grocery delivery available is Kroger. com. Door Dash and Uber Eats are available. The nearest grocery store is Lawrence Foods, approximately 6 miles away. 134 W.
