Our one-bedroom guest house offers serenity and privacy on the Shawangunk Kill river, surrounded by the natural beauty of local farmland and "the Gunks" mountains. Step outside to soak in the tub, kayak, enjoy a bbq, or gather around the firepit. When the spirit of exploration calls you, it's only a short drive to hiking, biking, and world-class rock climbing, along with wineries, breweries, farms, orchards, cider mills, and many fine restaurants. A retreat for body, mind, and soul. The space The newly renovated Red Barn Retreat is located on a picture-perfect country road, separated from the property's main house and designed to feel very secluded and private. The kitchen/living room area is surrounded by windows on three sides, overlooking farms and, seasonally, the Shawangunk Ridge. The convertible sofa here sleeps two adults. The bathroom features an oversized shower with two heads and a built-in Bluetooth speaker. The cozy bedroom is accented by a queen-sized bed, desk nook, and reading nook. You'll have a private deck with table and chairs, a hot tub, along with a side yard, barbecue grill, and firepit. There's a washer/dryer in the unit. It's just a short walk to the river and a longer stroll to two nearby wineries, and we are minutes by car from Lake Minnewaska and the Mohonk Preserve. We own four kayaks and bikes that are available to guests when not in use; just give us a heads up and we'll make sure you have everything you need. We are 20 minutes to iconic New Paltz and offer many amazing restaurants and wineries. Guest access Please note that this guest house is on the second floor, and access requires two sets of outdoor stairs. Parking is available at the end of our driveway, just outside the Red Barn building. Our family lives in the main house on the property. The immediate neighborhood is rural but friendly to walking and biking. The Main Street area of Gardiner is approximately 10 minutes away by car. Other things to note The "Smart TVs" in the living room and bedroom have Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. We have passes to Minnewaska State Park and the Mohonk Preserve available for guests to borrow.
