It is for those looking to explore, observe mother nature and all she has to offer. However ,it is very comfortable and well outfitted. Of all the places listed, hardly any are actually ON an island which, in itself, makes the experience special. We have paddle board, kayak, canoe, rowing shell, etc. that you can borrow. If there is something you are looking for, just ask. We may have it. We live on the island also, but you will hardly see us as we face the opposite direction. You are very private with you own swimming area, surroundings and dock. Feel free to wander the 1,000 ft. of shoreline and woods behind. We have hosted many families, musicians, fishermen, birders, cooks, writers, bankers, lawyers....you name it and they have all loved it. Guest access Guest should drive to Schermerhorn Landing off Route 12. You are allowed to park your car there and leave your boat trailer and launch your boat there. Or, you can rent a boat from them (Schermerhorn Harbor) or River Bay Boat & Kayak Rental in Chippewa Bay, Wellesley Island Boat Rentals(this place also rents jetskiis), or Wagoners. We can also take you to shore at appointed times during your stay for $25 each way. Other things to note Schermerhorns Landing Rd is not our physical address as we are on an island, but it is the one place to leave your car closest to us. If you rent elsewhere you can leave your car at those marinas. Schermies has a store for basic groceries. We can pick you up if you are just staying for a weekend, or you can rent a boat. There is a public launch at Schermerhorns if you bring your own boat and you can leave your trailer there. . This is a very private setting and nature abounds. Lots to explore or just relax and take in the amazing views. We use the river water for showers, washing, boiling, but we use spring water for drinking, and we supply you with two jugs.
