Thank you for checking out Arbor Crest Cottage! Jeremiah and I would be happy to host you. We are entering our 5th year of hosting and have been enjoying the experience. The farmette is conveniently located 2 miles from town, set off the road, and through the woods. The cottage is located on the edge of our woodland area. We invite you to explore our property and enjoy the animals. The west end of our land over looks town and is a great place to watch the sunset and the goats graze. The space The Cottage was built in the spring of 2020, with my personal taste in décor and Jeremiah's skill at building and design. Together, we worked to create a space that we hope you find unique, welcoming, and comfortable. You will find the kitchenette stocked with the items needed for your basic cooking needs for an electric skillet/fry pan, toaster, microwave and charcoal grill. Of course, we have all the options you want for your perfect cup of coffee or tea in the morning, including our local raw honey. Both our loft bed and the sofa sleeper are queen size beds, with the coziest of comforters and pillows. Our property was long ago developed by a master gardener with a taste for rare and unique trees. If you take the time to explore you will discover trees and vegetation, non-native to Wisconsin. Spring, Summer and Fall bring a mix of floral blooms and colorful leaf displays. If you catch us during a snow fall, it's truly a Winter Wonderland. The goats enjoy visitors, and head scratches, it's always entertaining to watch the young goat kids jump and play in the Spring and Fall. Ellie, our Great Pyrenees, keeps watch over our farmette. She is a gentle giant who loves belly rubs, and can usually be found by our animals. This summer we added a little family of ducks, and they are quite funny to see play in their water tub. Those of you coming to take part in the ATV and UTV trails throughout Lafayette County, you are in luck! Our road is a trail access road. And, for those of you coming to just get out of the city and enjoy some quiet, this is the place for you. Neighbors aren't far, but we live on a rather quiet road. Seasonally you may hear farm machinery in the distance during planting and harvest, on most days you are only going to hear my wind chimes, Lucy- the most chatty goat, or Ellie, protecting her animals. Guest access The Cottage is located down the hill crest from the main house. Our guests have access to explore the property and visit the animals. We encourage our guests to interact with the goats, you're welcome to go in their pens, they love visitors! The sheds, main house and the fenced in yard immediately around the house are not accessible to guests. Other things to note There is a short walk to the cottage from the parking area, approximately 30 yards. Please, DO NOT drive down the walking path to the cottage, park beside the Parking Sign. Jeremiah and I apologize for any inconvenience, but we do NOT allow pets. We have livestock, and a dog of our own. With livestock there can be risks with any new animals brought to the property. We decided it is best to avoid any unforeseeable incidents. A reminder that our kitchen is NOT a FULL KITCHEN. For cooking purposes we have an electric skillet/fry pan, toaster, microwave, and charcoal grill. Please bring charcoal and lighter fluid. We do ask that you bring firewood, if you are planning to enjoy the fire ring. We may have some available but can not guarantee it. Locally, our Casey's gas station, and Piggly Wiggly grocery store both sell firewood, and are located about 2 miles from our home. Any ATV/UTVs can only be driven on our driveways and not around our property, or down the walking path to the cottage. *PLEASE NOTE* Our driveway does NOT have a turn around for long trailers. Please, be prepared to back out of the driveway if you have a trailer. If you have any questions please, feel free to ask!
