Come visit our lovely organic orchard! These colorful apartments above our cider building are listed as Cider House East and Cider House West. They're spacious with a large kitchen and bathroom. Rest, relax, hike our hill or trails, and enjoy nearby state parks, lakes, ponds, the ocean or river and a string of lovely towns with great cuisine and shopping. The space PLEASE use our web site directions rather than GPS, as GPS often takes people to an old, impassable part of Masalin Road. There is no public transportation in this part of Maine, sorry to say. The apartment has a large kitchen leading into the living room, a bedroom with a queen bed and closet, a bathroom with full tub and shower and a queen fold-out couch in living room. The fold-out couch, though new, is not exceedingly comfortable. Most guests who have an infant or a child seem to cloose to have them sleep in a portacrib or pack and play, or, for an older child, simply 9n the couch.. The front deck looks up our blueberry hill and the living room and bedroom look down over the orchard. This is a quiet farm situated on 46 acres with views of the Camden Hills. If guests hike up our blueberry hill ( a 20 minute walk) they can see over the Camden Hills to the sea, all the way to Acadia, and from the top of the hill looking back, the hills of Western Maine. Guest access This is a working farm. You will see farm and building equipment, rusty things, old trucks and the like.Children should be supervised. Apple season (Early September-early November) is great fun but also busier than the rest of the year. Maine has a high tick population, so if planning to hike, bring appropriate clothing to cover yourself and plan to check yourselves and children when you come in. Guests are welcome to walk or hike anywhere on the property. In apple season you may walk through the orchard and pick apples, but please observe orchard rules: no climbing trees or swinging from branches, feel free to sample apples; please put apple cores in compost bucket near Ciderhouse. Other things to note A lot to note! In apple season the main cider pressing days are Thursdays and Sundays. *Noise and activity begin by 7:00 am. Though the space is well-insulated, you will be able to hear the grinder by 7:30. Caveat emptor: People who need or want to sleep in on these days kindly be advised! You can watch the cider operation if you like. Sundays we press other peoples' apples for them and have many customers who have come with their families for this joyous ritual for years! We use natural laundry and dish soaps and use no dryer sheets or fabric softener. We do NOT iron our sheets. Our water is from these hills and good to drink. Our lovely trees are delicate! We have never used sprays or pesticides of any kind, so our apples are not "dessert quality" in looks ---some have bumps and blotches---but they are highly nutritious due to the high nutrient content of our soil.In season you can buy cider and vinegar is for sale year round, with a day or two notice, as Bob ages the vinegar 3 years and we bottle on demand.
