Cabin in Valle Crucis
Our log cabin nestled in the “High Country” of North Carolina has been in the family since 1979 when my grandparents, looking for a place to retire, moved here after falling in love with the area. The cabin was originally built in Virginia but was moved to Valle Crucis in the 1950s. Our dream has been to turn it into a peaceful mountain get-away for people looking for a break from the busyness of life to enjoy some time in the valley to rest, relax and explore the area. The space It's a small and rustic cabin with one private bedroom and a loft area that has a day bed and trundle to fit two, a full kitchen, living room, one full bathroom downstairs and one half bathroom upstairs. In the past it was rented out long term, but it has since become our goal to share it with short term guests through Airbnb. Repairing the house and making changes has been a considerable feat that has involved most of the family. It has been a hard but rewarding experience. Some notes about the interior of the house is that the ceilings are low on the main floor and the stairs are steep. We would not recommend this place to families with very young children or people who have trouble with stairs. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire cabin and will only share the space with those they are traveling with. There is a fireplace and small stove in the kitchen but they are NOT to be used. The stove in the kitchen is merely ornamental and the fireplace is not safe to be used at this time. Other things to note As the pictures show, the cabin is located near the road, but there is still plenty of distance and a sense of privacy for the guests. There is never heavy traffic so passing cars shouldn't be a disturbance. Also, keep in mind that the cabin is very old! That means that sometimes bugs make their way inside. We do our best to keep the cabin bug free, but that's kind of impossible with such an old cabin.
