Welcome to the Log Cabin - a unique cozy space in our lovely 1940s home! The original owner created this room with his own hands. Furnished with vintage pieces to evoke another time; a perfect retreat. We are in a beautiful & safe neighborhood 5 minutes from Grosse Pointe. St John's & Corewell Hospitals are minutes away. We live upstairs. The space Your unit includes a large bedroom/living area , full kitchen, and a full bath with a walk-in shower. Supplies for making coffee & tea are provided. The bedroom (AKA The Log Cabin Room) is furnished with a wrought iron framed Sleep Number queen-sized bed with a memory foam topper, a variety of hypoallergenic pillows, a comfy stuffed chair, a convertible desk, and a lovely mosaic table & chairs. A vintage cedar chest is stocked extra linens and such. There are plenty of drawers for your things and a free standing clothes rack for hanging clothes. The kitchen is well stocked with essentials for cooking, including a variety of spices, olive oil, and basic condiments. Organic coffee & a variety of teas are provided, and a refillable pitcher of filtered water will be waiting for you in the refrigerator. The soaps, conditioner, shampoo provided are all sulfate and paraben free. Complimentary use of the washer & dryer and supplies is included. ***We live & work upstairs and you will likely hear us a bit between 8 a.m.-11 pm. If you are looking for a quiet space to sleep or to work from during the day this is probably not the best fit.*** Note that from time to time we need access to our pantry, workshop and/or laundry. We will text you to coordinate (we never come down into your space while you are there without advance warning). As travelers ourselves, we understand that it is the little details that can make or break a stay and our goal is for you to feel like an honored guest in our home. We control the overall heat in the house from upstairs but you will have your own space heater and fan so that you control your own environment. There is a 24 inch Smart TV, some board games, books and playing cards for your enjoyment. The space is also equipped with emergency supplies (first aid, flashlight, candles/matches, and fire extinguisher) as well as things to clean up an inadvertent spill. You will notice an air cleaner on the wall by the head of the bed. We do ask that guests be conscious about their use of fragrances during their stay. ***Due to our severe allergies, we cannot accept any pets, even service animals.*** Guest access You are welcome to hang out in the yard. Weather permitting, there is a hammock, table and chairs for your use. There is an ashtray on the table on the back porch for your use. During gardening season please help yourself to tomatoes or other veggies. Light 420 is fine indoors (but absolutely no tobacco). Other things to note Please read before booking: ++We live upstairs on the floor above the basement and we have hardwood floors, so you may hear us from time to time until we settle down for the night in our attic bedroom. ++We control the central heat and A/C from our level. Being a basement, the environment of the unit is relatively temperate. And, we have a heater/fan on hand for your use as desired. If we need to tweak the temperature, just shoot us a text. ++We do not accept any pets, including service animals due to our severe allergies.
