Close to town but in the country
We love being 1.5 miles from town on good road, close enough to visit our family there, yet have three acres to ourselves. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about our area even if we can’t host you now. The space We are about 1.5 miles from the Banquitas House of Culture, you can walk here over mostly good road or we can pick you up in town. The rooms are under our main roof but one enters from the back verandah. PLEASE NOTE that the price for single or double occupancy is for ONE room only. If you would like to rent both rooms but just have two guests, simply add a third “guest”and an additional charge of $10 will be added so that you can occupy both rooms. Also note that we only rent to one person or group or family at a time so you will never be sharing the bathroom with strangers, even if you just rent the one room. They are only bedrooms but you are welcome to use our stove, utensils and refrigerator in the main part of the house if you like to prepare or store your your own food. (For some reason one of the guests reviews translated wrong to say they “couldn’t cook”, because they had cooked the whole time :))Each room has lockable entrance from the screen porch, as does the adjacent bathroom. We live in the main part of the house and you are welcome to visit with us, and use our stove and refrigerator. However you can also enter your room without passing through our area and there are table and chairs on the screen porch. Please note discounts available below. We keep the price low so you can spend on food vendors, taxis and tours to spread the joy. PS there is one room with AC and we will charge an additional $10 US if you would like to use that room. Guest access The section of our lot with the house is fenced with chain link with gates that we lock at night. If you have a car or a bike, it will be locked in there. All of our few neighbors have acreage, so you can wander about to watch birds on our other 2+ acres of property or on the dirt roads in the area. We are used to having company but can visit and chat as much or as little as you like. You are welcome to sit in our little main room or on the screen porch to visit or to read, work on your laptop or relax in the hammocks. You may also freely use our stove and refrigerator. We offer free transport to Orange Walk for bus, tours or shopping if we can coordinate with your schedule During your stay We have lots of family and friends in OWT, so if we don't know something we at least know who to ask. Most of our guests want to go to Lamanai and we will direct you to tour operators who can take you there. Other places that are well worth seeing are the Programme for Belize conservation area and Blue Creek and Shipyard. Sarteneja is a quiet fishing village next to the Bay and it is easy to catch the bus from Orange Walk out to there. Plan on spending a night or two there if you do go by bus. Another way to get to Sarteneja if you are coming from Mexico is to stop at Corozal for the night and take the water taxi to Sarteneja the next morning. Spend a day and night at Sarteneja and the head out to Orange Walk by bus early the next morning. From Orange Walk you can go off to Lamanai that same day. The north has a lot to see and you can't really say you have seen Belize until you see it all!
