Rocky Glen is a cozy cottage nestled in the Nyanga Mountains. Just 7kms away from Troutbeck is this hidden gem. Guests can visit the stream that passes through the cottage or hike to the small but stunning waterfall not to far away. If tranquility and great quality time with friends and family is what you are after then this is the ideal place for you. Rocky Glen comes with a cook/housekeeper who can prepare your meals and clean up after you so you can enjoy ultimate relaxation. The space The lodge offers all the comforts of home in a tranquil setting. Our fireplace will keep you warm while our electric blankets will take the dread of jumping into cold blankets away. We have books and games to play such as darts and cards among others. We have 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The first bedroom has a double bed and a seperate bathroom and toilet directly outside. The second bedroom has twin beds and also has a seperate bathroom and toilet directly outside. The third bedroom is an upstairs loft set up with 2 indian day beds so it could be a lounge by day and a bedroom at night. There is a a combined shower and toilet directly off that room. The last bedroom is detached from the main house but is literally 5 steps away. It has a queen sized bed and ensuite. Please ensure you go through the "other notes" section so you are aware of what is on offer. Guest access Guests can access the volleyball pitch, stream that flows by the property and the entire 7 acre property. Other things to note The last 3kms to the lodge have patches of bad road so you would need to use a vehicle with higher clearance. A 4x4 will be required in the rainy season. You need to bring your own food and toiletries. We have a braai stand on site but you would need to bring your own charcoal as it is a charcoal braai. All other wood is supplied. Zimbabwe in general has not been doing great in terms of power supply. We have an inverter system installed to make sure you always have lights and entertainment when needed. Please note that the inverter may only be operated by our staff. In the unlikely event that the inverter has a fault we also have a generator to power the house as backup. If we do end up switching on the generator please note that it will be used for a limited time only (between 8 and 11 in the morning and 5 to 9 in the evening). In addition to the inverter and generator we also have rechargeable led lights that can also be used to charge your phones. We have really tried to cover all the bases. We have a 4 plate gas stove with oven. 2 of our geysers/boilers are wood fired and do not depend on electricity so you will be guaranteed a hot shower. Should you require extended generator use (outside stipulated hours) for whatever reason this can be accommodated at an extra charge of 2 USD per hour. The cellphone reception is not great at the lodge but Munashe and Sebastian our cook and caretaker will be happy to show you spots within the property where you can get reception. We do not have wifi at the house and do not intend on installing it. We would like our guests to take the opportunity to relax, bond and immerse themselves into the experience without the distractions of day to day life.
