The space Bedaam is an air-conditioned, ensuite room with a king-sized bed and kitchenette which accommodates a maximum of 2 guests. It is 1 of only 4 cabins on our farm created for couples and friends looking to unwind, reconnect with nature or for a tour base. (Due to the desert farm habitat, we regret we do not accommodate infants or children.) Designed with your total comfort in mind the cabin has: •King-sized bed, padded headboards and ultra-deep sprung mattresses; •Cotton-covered quilt, quality linen and pillow menu; •Bedside tables, Ali-Baba lamps, radio/ipod player •Large picture window overlooking flowering bushes and open fields •Solid pine breakfast table and chairs for inside or deck use •Quality bath, hand and separate pool towels •Modern ensuite bathroom with rainshower stocked with eco-friendly products •Attached kitchenette with granite counter-top, Whirlpool fridge/freezer, crockery and utensil cupboard, kettle, cafetiere, salad bowl, trays. •Stock of Colombian filter coffee, tea and herbal infusions, fresh milk and bottled drinking water. •Wardrobe holds a hairdryer, torch, lamp and sundry odds and ends with ample hanging space and shelf storage for longer stays. Shared outdoor space for guest includes:- •central purpose-built, fully-equipped kitchen and breakfast bar with electric oven, BBQ, microwave, toaster, cooking utensils, cooking oil and condiments/sauces etc.. •landscaped area with dining table and chairs, bar stools and loungers; •NEW boules/petanque pitch •NEW landscaped plunge pool and yoga deck - unrestricted access •owners’ infinity swimming pool – opening hours 8.00am-1.00pm and 3.00-6.00pm •open air games room with table tennis and foosball •Large indoor reception majlis with comfy soft furnishings and bean bags for indoor relaxation and board games •NEW free reception WiFi Although we provide WiFi for our guests’ convenience, we encourage you to switch off, relax, wind-down and enjoy our beautiful natural setting, fresh air and wide-open spaces. We cannot promise you silence however; you will awaken to birdsong and bees humming in the trees, and sleep to the sound of a rustling breeze and chatter of crickets. Guest access Guests are free to explore the Oasis keeping to the main paths and to use all the amenities. The owner’s pool and swimming pool patio is open to guests for during most daylight hours from 8.00-13.00am and 15.00-18.00pm but otherwise reserved for owner and family use. Guests are requested to adhere to these timings. Guests have unrestricted access to all other amenities. However for the benefit of all guests and surrounding farms, we request that quiet time is observed after 10.00pm. Please note as this is a desert farm you may encounter all manner of small creatures and bugs. We cannot rule out the occasional scorpion or grass snake. For this reason we advise keeping to paths/cleared ground and carrying a torch at night. We consider the Oasis unsuitable for children. Other things to note Dress code Oman is a tolerant but conservative society where great store is placed on modest behaviour and dress. This is particularly the case outside Muscat and applies to both men and women. The guiding principle is that arms, legs and chest up to the collar bone should be covered. Most comfortable attire for women means midi dresses with leggings or trousers/capri pants with half or long-sleeved tops preferably to thigh level. Women may wish to keep a large scarf or lightweight shawl handy for additional cover if invited into homes of Omanis. It is acceptable for men to wear short-sleeved shirts/t-shirts and long shorts i.e. at least knee level. Short shorts, sleeveless tops, tight fitting or see-through clothing are not acceptable on either men or women. We request that you observe this dress code at all times on the farm while outside the swimming pool area. Pool shower rooms are provided for you to change and shower before and after your swim. Climate Oman’s climate is subtropical dry, hot desert with low annual rainfall and very high summer (June to September) temperatures. However, the terrain is diverse and the climate as varied as the geography. Lizq Oasis has its own micro-climate created by the mountains that encircle it at a distance. While it can be hotter than Muscat we tend to have more frequent – always welcome – cloudbursts in the summer months. As a rule of thumb, the best time to visit is from October to April when temperatures range from a very pleasant 22°C (70°F) to around 35°C (95°F) during the day. As usual in a desert climate, the difference between day and night temperatures can be marked. Be prepared to don a sweater for sitting outdoors at night. By the end of April and through May temperatures reach around 40°C (100°F) before ratcheting up to 45°C (113°F) in July/August. While sightseeing is not recommended in the summer months, the summer nights are balmy after the scorching days and perfect for star-gazing. At any time of year, it is important to wear a hat, sunscreen and, most of all, keep hydrated. Make sure you carry sufficient water supplies when travelling around. Mosquitoes are a fact of life in the cooler months. We advise keeping the screen door and window screens closed at all times. Planting around the huts is mainly lemon grass and basil to repel mosquitoes and minimise watering.
