Shep's Miners Inn is only 10 miles from the turn off to The West Rim of the Grand Canyon Built in the mid 1800's it was originally a stage coach repair and rest stop. Later, the Inn became living quarters for miners and their families. You’ll love our Inn/Hotel because of the coziness, and location "Arizona's Oldest Western Silver Mining Town" Stay long enough to experience the many sights to see in Chloride: The Old Jail, World Famous Murals, much more. Listing for: Family Suite - Room 6 The space LOCATED ONLY 10 MILES FROM THE TURN OFF TO THE GRAND CANYON WEST SKYWALK TURN OFF. You'll want to stay with us long enough to see the "Old Ghost Town" right across the street. Sites to see: The "World Famous" Roy Purcell Murals painted on huge boulders, The Old Jail, The Old Train Station, The Old "Hoover Dam Home", The Shady Lady Antique Store, The "Old Museum", gun fights on some Saturdays. Maps of the town are available for all guests. See the Cows, Deer Jackrabbits and an assortment of wild life. Yesterday's Restaurant located on site. We received 5 Stars for Cleanliness from the Health Inspector. Shep's Miner's Inn/Hotel is constructed with sand and mud (adobe) from the local dry stream beds and the walls are 12 inch solid block. In the late 1800's this inn was initially built for the passengers on the Butterfield Stage Line to rest their weary bodies after the grueling journey through the desert. As the stage coaches gave way to the railroad, the rooms were converted to lodging for the miners and their families. When horseless carriages overtook the railroads for travel, the adobe building was extended to become an early motor court on the main highway through Chloride, which today is 2nd street. Over the following decades, the Shep's Miners Inn underwent many changes, and uses. In 2002, it was taken back to the original use, a modern day hotel. We kept the feel of it's original rustic simple decor, and each room is different. The rooms are comfortable, they have private baths, plenty of fresh air and the rates are quite affordable. There is air conditioning in every room. We accept overnight guests and are happy to provide longer term stays. Chloride is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of any large city. If getting off the "grid" is what you are looking for, we have it. There are TV's the rooms. Every TV has a DVD player and we provide a wide assortment of movies for your enjoyment. We offer free wifi, however it can at times have a weak signal. Not only an Experience but a Destination that you'll talk about for years to come. Many Guests come twice a year to enjoy the peace and quiet away from the big cities... Hope to see you soon ! Guest access "Yesterdays Restaurant" is part of Sheps Miners Inn. It is open 7 days a week from 8am to 5pm. Other things to note You will check in at Yesterdays Restaurant. The restaurant closes at 5pm but we have a 24 hour check in.
