Before booking please make sure you are happy with our house rules and you are willing to look after our eco cottage by taking note of the following: ~We are off grid and run entirely on solar power which means we avoid national grid power cuts and the noise and pollution from a generator. It does mean however that we cannot run very high power items such as electric kettles/hair dryers/straighteners, etc., as they can overload and damage our solar system causing a black out and expensive repairs. If you have an item you would like to use but you are not sure of the power consumption please consult with us first to avoid causing any damage to our system. ~We rely solely on rainwater harvesting for our clean water supply and as this is an arid area with regular periods of drought we ask you to be considerate when using the water. Please try to maximise your time in the shower to 10 minutes, donβt leave taps running unnecessarily. While waiting for shower water to become hot you can collect the water in the bucket provided to water the flowers rather than waste it. Also if you notice any water/pipe leaks please let us know! ~The septic waste uses a biodigester system. To avoid blocking it please only flush normal toilet paper down the toilet! Please use the bins provided for any other items. ~Please don't smoke inside the house, you are welcome to smoke in the garden and use the ashtray provided. ~This is generally a peaceful area with nature and wildlife around so we ask that if you want to play music, not to have it too loud and to keep noise levels as low as possible after 10pm until 6am.
