2/22/18 - Remodeled in 2017, this creekside retreat on 2.5 forested acres near the center of Cedar Mountain sits along one of the most beautiful country roads you will ever see. The setting is forested and long on peace and quiet. The Fawn Lake entrance in Dupont State Forest (83 miles of hiking/biking trails and some of the most popular waterfalls in NC) is only .5 mile down the road. The town of Brevard is 12 miles. Location is close to local wedding venues, youth camps, and Pisgah trails. The space With 658 sq ft of living space (+ 224 sq ft deck area) the cottage is well suited for extended stays. The linens and towels are plush and the furnishings comfortable. The kitchen has granite tile countertop and is well outfitted for basic cooking. The bedroom has a KING size bed. The other bed option is a quality queen size air mattress that sits 16" above the floor and fits comfortably in front of the fireplace. The deck off the living room puts you in the forest for lounging, dining or the nightly lightning bug show. Recently improvements include; new heating/ac system, bathroom grab bars, hot water heater, mudroom entry, new microwave, fire pit and TV upgrade to Roku with YouTube-TV which offers all major networks, espn, golf ch and 40+ more. Guest access The cottage is the completed first phase of a retirement DYI project. You will have the whole completed guest suite to yourself with private entrance and access to 2 1/2 acres with a large garden that you are welcome to graze in when things are ripe. The other half is under construction (winter time) and closed off to guest except for easy access to the washer and dryer. Other things to note No need to bring bottled to Cedar Mountain, this is headwaters country for the French Broad River. The water is so clean, beer brewers from all over the country are attracted to the area. The well water at the property, and the well at my daughter's restaurant two miles down the road, are tested annually. The water here is among the purest and best tasting on the eastern seaboard. Several guests have filled up containers for the trip home.
