A haven of tranquillity: a light, bright king room
A 15 minute drive from Fort Portal town, nestled amongst 3 crater lakes overlooking the Rwenzori Mountains, is the getaway your soul has been looking for. The space is set in 5 acres of beautiful farmland where you can enjoy nature, bird watching, hikes and crater lake swimming. There is also a labyrinth and a quiet garden for deeper contemplation and rest. Whether you need to recharge your batteries, want space to write or paint or you simply fancy a weekend break, this space has what you need. The space The self-catering space offers a quiet and spacious bedroom with a king-size bed, with its own direct access to the grounds and a small shared private veranda. The room shares a bathroom with one other bedroom and a sitting/dining area and a simple, well-equipped kitchen with two other rooms. The bedroom and the common spaces are full of light, tastefully decorated, offer wonderful views and provide a comfortable, peaceful home away from home. The house is completely off-grid, depending on solar for power, so hairdryer, irons, toasters and electric kettles should not be used. The kitchen has a three-ringed gas stove and no fridge, however, a cool box with a supply of ice blocks can be provided. Pantry essentials include: salt, pepper, tea and ground coffee. Should you prefer not to bring your own food, I can provide a breakfast basket, including fruit, home-made granola, yoghurt, bread or pancakes, jam and honey plus fresh eggs from our chickens for you to cook. If booked in advance, I am also happy to provide a one or two-course evening meals. Please enquire when you book about the additional cost of breakfast and/or dinner. Fort Portal town offers markets, supermarkets and a few restaurants. Due to the rural location, mobile phone reception is weak and the WiFi can be somewhat temperamental. Power for charging phones, camera batteries and laptops is available in the rooms and the sitting/dining area. Please respectfully enjoy your stay, keeping in mind the quiet location. Guest access There is ample parking on the property. Please note that due to the beautiful remote location, the roads to the property can be a challenge in the rainy season. For a small fee, I am happy to arrange a pick up and/or drop off in Fort Portal for you. Alternatively, boda bodas (motorbike taxis) can be arranged for transport into or from town. Other things to note I live in the upstairs part of the house, so I am available to answer any queries you may have and am more than happy to help with information about what the area has to offer.
