Pictured Rocks Family Rentals welcomes you to The Pines! Quaint lakefront cottage on Furnace Lake. It is conveniently located right off M28 in Christmas, less than 5 miles from downtown Munising, the beginning of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. There are 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. Our cottage offers 1 king bed, 1 queen bed, and 2 full beds. Come up to enjoy Pictured Rocks & numerous waterfalls in the area. Only 2 blocks from Christmas ORV/snowmobile trailhead. The space We added central air conditioning to the home in the summer of 2021. The second bedroom here is a little odd. It used to be a jacuzzi tub bathroom. The previous owner removed the jacuzzi tub, and now there is a bed in there. The room still has a toilet and sink in it. We have added a curtain to block toilet view from bed. While it is unusual, we think it is worth keeping to have an extra lavatory for larger groups. We added a tankless water heater in January 2024, now there is unlimited hot water, so nobody has to dread being the last one to take a shower :) Up to 2 dogs are allowed with preapproval, but there is a $75 non-refundable pet fee that will need to be added. -Signed rental agreement and security deposit hold required for all reservations. Primary guest will need to send a picture of government issued ID and list names and ages of all other guests in their group. -No parties or events allowed -Quiet time is from 10 pm to 8 am -No smoking allowed in the home, outside and in garage is ok. Please dispose of butts. $250 fine for smoking or vaping inside the cottage -There is an exterior audio/video recording security device that is on 24/7. It is motion activated and faces the entry doors going into home and the side garage entry door. Guest access Guests have full access to the home (other than locked mechanical closet), garage, red outbuilding next to garage, and yard. The red outbuilding near the garage has the life jackets in it as well as the oars for the rowboat. The red outbuilding near the road is not available to guests. Other things to note The beginning of Pictures Rocks National Lakeshore is considered to be Munising for the east end of the park. Our home is less than 5 miles from Munising, which has a few different boat tours and kayak tour companies. There are numerous ways to enjoy Pictured Rocks, either by boat tours, kayak tours (our favorite is Pictured Rocks Kayaking and combines both a little boat tour and then they launch you from the boat to kayak), hiking, or even driving towards Grand Marais on H58. Lakenenland is a free sculpture park about 23 miles west of us on M28 that is cool to check out. Sand Point beach is about 7 miles east of us and Au Train beach is about 6 miles west on M28. Grand Island is about 25 miles in circumference and there is a ferry that can take you over to hike for the day or you can rent bicycles. There are some tour boats that go around the island as well. Our favorite way to see the island is by pontoon though :) We have numerous trails and seasonal roads in our area for snowmobiling and side by sides. XMas Motorsports Park is less than a mile from the home for the adventurous that like to ride dirt bikes and they host numerous events during the summer. The Christmas Casino is a half mile away if you're feeling lucky. Foggy's Steakhouse is nearby as well as the Duck Pond (seasonally), Brownstone Inn in Au Train and Tracey's in Munising are a couple finer dining options. Bay Furnace Park is only a half mile away where you can see the ruins of a blast furnace where pig iron used to be made.
