Historic Oldenburg Drees Haus
Drees Haus is a charming 1870s home on the historic district walking tour of Oldenburg. Located on a quiet street, across the street from the convent wall, and next to the well-maintained village park, this brick cottage home is an example of the town's late 19th century architectural style. It reflects the German heritage of the village, with much of the artwork and furniture original to the town and surrounding area. Easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, and the Catholic church The space On the ground floor the living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom have high ceilings, comfortable furniture, and shuttered windows for privacy. The kitchen is well stocked with coffeemaker, coffee, tea, condiments, and staples. Enjoy the view of the garden from the kitchen, or take your coffee out to the covered porch, enhanced by lighting and ceiling fans. A smart TV in the living room, bluetooth, fiber-optic internet, and wifi keep you connected. The queen bed has, we're told, the most comfortable mattress ever. The full bathroom features a walk-in shower. Climbing the stairs to the second floor will reward you with a cozy sitting room with games and puzzles, and a bedroom with full bed. A freestanding electric fireplace adds to the ambiance in the winter and AC cools the space in the summertime. Relax outside on the patio, enjoy the garden, or walk one or two blocks to restaurants, pubs, shops, the grocery, historic Sisters of St Francis convent, Holy Family church, and walking trails. Your kids will love the adjacent playground, and you'll love being able to keep an eye on them from the back yard! Guest access There is ample street parking directly in front of the house. When you check in, you'll go up an exterior stairway at the back of the house to the small porch off the the kitchen where you'll find the lockbox. Guests have access to the entire house with the exception of the unfinished basement. This includes two bedrooms, a full bath with walk-in shower, kitchen, living room and sitting room. A small porch off the kitchen overlooks the garden and the neighboring park. The private covered patio is a delightful spot for morning coffee or an evening with friends. Other things to note Please note, while Oldenburg in general has excellent cell phone coverage, ATT and T-Mobile do not have coverage here.
