Please note that the river usually covers the dock in the winter months and currents are too swift to kayak. In the winter months, curl up with a good book near the fire in the wood stove while you listen to the rain. There are tons of wineries to check out and lots of information and discount coupons at the house. We have four bicycles (3 adult size and 1 youth size) for exploring the neighborhood or riding into town for an ice cream cone. Great hikes nearby in the redwoods at Armstrong State Park or at one of the many Sonoma coast beaches such as Goat Rock, Wright and Shell Beach. The house is surrounded by lots of mature landscaping, flowers, majestic redwoods & fruit trees striking the perfect balance of sun and shade. The first thing you'll notice when entering the house are the floor to ceiling windows overlooking the trees and river below. The inviting colors and comfortable furniture coupled with dark wood pine flooring creates a cozy zen-like atmosphere. The upstairs has two spacious bedrooms each with Queen beds and new fluffy comforters. Both bedrooms have lots of windows and one has a large deck overlooking the river--perfect for enjoying a morning cup of coffee. There is a small bedroom downstairs with Twin bunk beds. The main living areas are downstairs with an open floor plan. The living room has floor-to-ceiling windows on one end and a wood-burning stove on the other end. There is an adjoining dining room with room for eight people. The dining room opens out onto the brick paver patio with lovely views of the river. The kitchen is well-stocked with all the essentials (cookware, coffee, tea, spices, olive oil, etc.), stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, waffle-maker and toaster oven. There is an adjoining breakfast nook with pub table seating for four and two extra folding chairs in the garage. The bathroom is located downstairs and has a large vanity area and shower. It is well stocked with soap, shampoo and conditioner and plenty of bath and spa/beach towels. There is also a private enclosed outdoor shower with soap, shampoo and conditioner right off the downstairs bedroom under the redwood tree. The patio is equipped with a propane BBQ grill, table and seating for six, and porch swing for two. There are stairs off of the patio down to the dock where the kayaks (three single and one double) are tied up in the summer. In the other seasons, the kayaks are kept in the river or on the property depending on the season and water level of the river. There is an outdoor fire pit area that uses propane and marshmallow sticks are available. Located in the heart of the Sonoma wine country, on the Russian River, this home is the perfect location to visit the many local wineries, go for a swim, kayak, bike, visit the ocean, hike in the redwoods, or just relax and do nothing but enjoy the river and watch the local wildlife. Blue heron sightings are common especially down at Vacation Beach which is a half block walk from the house. Modern comforts include High Speed Wi-Fi and Smart TV with cable, DVD player, plus Blue Tooth speaker. There are also lots of books, movies and games to choose from. Nearby areas of interest include the world renowned wine regions of the Russian River and Dry Creek (15 min), Armstrong State Park with the giant redwoods (10 min), Sonoma County ocean beaches (20 min), and restaurants, shopping, antiques, fishing, hiking, biking, tennis, golf and miniature golf.
