Dolphin Tiny Home
Hurricane Ian Disclaimer: The Island of Matlacha, along with our property, has been affected by Hurricane Ian and should NOT be viewed to be a vacation destination this season. Utilities such as Wi-Fi are currently weak as Matlacha is in the process of rebuilding its infrastructure. The space Tiny house with 2 queen beds, table, full bathroom and kitchen with induction cook top, pots and pans included as well as all linens. Guest access Access to BBQ grill, deck and docks, picnic tables Other things to note On September 28, 2002, Hurricane Ian devastated much of coastal Southwest Florida, including Matlacha. Our tiny homes were some of the few structures to survive the area’s destruction, though we have had to do restoration, which is ongoing, to bring the property back to its former lustre. ** MATLACHA WAS DECLARED A DISASTER AREA AND STILL IS. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS BEFORE YOU BOOK YOUR STAY. ** Matlacha is slowly recovering, but the vast majority of the shops and restaurants remain closed. Blue Dog Bar & Grill and Perfect Cup are open for food and drink nearby, but you should not expect to find any of the other attractions available. Cell service can be spotty, and we still have not been able to restore high speed internet service. A very limited Starlink wi-fi is available, but it is insufficient for streaming TV. A few over-the-air channels are available using an antenna. We are open, but we want anyone staying with us to understand the local conditions. As you walk around any part of Matlacha, you should expect to see debris piles, downed vegetation, and many buildings with extensive to catastrophic damage. After Blue Dog closes at 9pm, the area is dark and unpopulated. Some nearby areas fared better through the storm and may offer things to do. The Bokeelia area of Pine Island was spared much of the destruction, and Cape Coral has largely rebounded. More close by, it’s business as usual at Miceli’s at the other end of Matlacha, you CAN fish off the Matlacha Pass Bridge, and the boat ramp at Matlacha Park is open. Our dock was undamaged and you’re welcome to relax there as much as you’d like. If you decide that Matlacha is not right for you this year we completely understand, and we do hope that you’ll consider staying with us next season as the area rebuilds.
