Modern East Burke Home w/ Mtn View, Sauna, Pond
This end-of-the-road mtn-view retreat features a newly-built three bedroom home on 12 wooded acres. Perfect for campfire must-havers, Kingdom Trails bikers, and hikers & writers, the modern rustic home offers the perfect spot to revive. Heated concrete floors, a wood stove & waterfall-like showers provide respite from whatever storms life can throw. Find purpose while gazing out at Burke Mtn beyond the farm-house sink. Seal it with a dip in the private pond. Solar is being installed in January. The space The house has a bright yet cozy feel (think all the right windows, 10-foot ceilings downstairs, and exposed, knotted beams). The space is comfortably furnished and can sleep seven, if someone uses the futon. There are two bathrooms, with towels—one bathroom on each floor, a large kitchen perfect for cozy gatherings and everything you need to cook the ultimate meal. The cooktop is induction, and the kitchen has a dishwasher and wall oven. My coffee setup is simple but several, with a drip machine, a percolator (use Turkish or espresso grind), and a French Press (use coarse grind). I have a bean grinder. There is also a washer and dryer and mudroom—which, P.S., offers excellent acoustics for recreational singers. Note: I have taken extra precautions due to the COVID pandemic. These include: a whole-house air circulation system (set to circulate every 20-min), two sets of sheets per bed, and extra cleaning between guests to help ensure a safe and healthful experience. This property is a six-minute drive to Burke Mountain, and eight minutes to East Burke bars and stores. Depending on one's provider, most guests have very strong cell coverage, with line-of-sight to the tower on the mountain. Internet is good, with 16Mb download, and 6Mb upload. Plan to experience life beyond your everyday typical; come to slip away and scratch mosquito bites and check for ticks (hence full-length mirror). Come to enjoy the sounds of barred and great horned owls, or the deafening peepers of the pond. You may see a bear. You may see a moose. You will hear coyotes. The wood-fired sauna is an attraction in itself. The sauna is a four-minute walk down a private, single-track trail. If you'd like to use the sauna, please speak with the owner about how to operate, where to get wood, etc. Guest access The whole house is yours. I stash a few random personal items on hangers, hooks, and in drawers. Feel free to use any of it, including jackets, boots, and snowshoes. If you need a tool, let me know and I can help you find it in the equipment room. The front door key will open this.
