The space A busy professional couple with six kids created this unique minimalistic getaway with tailored finishing and beautiful views 50 minutes from the Minneapolis-St. Paul and 23 minutes from Stillwater, you will find your getaway on the west side of Apple Lake in Wisconsin. The exterior design is one of simple modernism with industrial materials acting like white canvases for the sun to cast ever-changing shadow play upon the home. Entering on the ground floor a visitor is greeted with sophisticated design, simple lines and décor, impeccable attention to lighting fixtures, and whimsical features to amuse. The upstairs transitions to a romantic loft capturing surrounding woodland and fabulous lake views and sunsets. The home is a personal art piece and design-lovers paradise set in a secluded space that connects the natural sights, smells and sounds of the outside environment. Number: ETHN-BNGJ8G Summer/Spring/Fall: • Swim in the lake using floaties • Get out onto the lake using the 4 full sized adult pedal boat or 2 kayaks • Dive into the lake or sun yourself on the large floating Lilly Pad • Fish off the dock, pedal boat or kayaks • Bike riding • Enjoy the landscaped fire pit in the woods 50 feet from the house • The fire pit has ideal seating for daytime lounging by the lake and nighttime s’mores • Grill your favorite foods on the outdoor gas grill • Hang under the trees in hammocks • Outdoor games available: giant jenga, bean bag toss, Yahtzee • Dine on the outdoor table • Relax on the patio sofas • Sun yourself or observe the night sky stars on the rooftop patio loungers Winter: • Nearby ice skating, skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, live music, bars and restaurants • Nestle up in the living room by the fire with a warm drink, relaxing, chatting, reading, watching movies, or playing games • Bring your ice skates and enjoy ice skating on the lake shore or boots for walking on the frozen lake 80 feet behind the house where you'll see pop up ice fishing DESCRIPTION Open plan living, kitchen, and dining area. Forced air heating and cooling throughout the house. Blinds are installed for the two downstairs bedrooms and bathroom, and upstairs bathroom. All other windows, including the upstairs bedroom, do not have blinds. The surrounding woodland creates seclusion with tall pine trees and leafy woodland mix. MAIN FLOOR Large full kitchen has waterfall granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances. Refrigerator with built in icemaker and filtered drinking water. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the equipment needed to make a home-cooked meal. OUTSIDE • Large back patio with outdoor seating available in summer. • Outdoor family table and chairs. • Weber gas grill. • Wooded lot surrounding house. • Direct access to Squaw Lake for swimming, fishing, ice skating etc. • Approximately 120 feet of wooded shoreline with short trails down to the lake. • Private dock installed in summer months. • Fire pit in the woods by the lake. • Toasting forks for hot dogs and marsh mellows at the fire pit. • Hammocks are available to relax in the woods. • Water toys (available to use when not iced in!) include 2x single kayaks, blow-up rings, a 4-adult-size super pedal boat, and a large lily pad. • Fishing rods and tackle (guests need to make sure to have a Wisconsin fishing license). • Double garage contains fish-cleaning station and other stored equipment. • Set of family bikes available for guests. OTHER NOTES Spring/Summer/Fall - Cedar Lake Speedway is a great evening out if you’re into that kind of thing but take eyeglasses and earplugs! The speedway is a little over 1.5 Miles from the lake house “as the crow flies”. Depending on weather conditions you can hear it in the distance on race nights between about 5 pm and midnight. These are usually every Saturday during the season with occasional longer weekends that include Thursday and Friday. MANY NEARBY ATTRACTIONS • Willow River State Park, a 23-minute drive, is a 3000-acre gem with a beautiful year-round waterfall, walking and hiking. Winter sledding too. • Trollhaugen Outdoor Recreation Area is a 24-minute drive. Winter: sledding, snow tubing and skiing. Summer: aerial challenge course and zip line tours. • Wild Mountain is a 38-minute drive. Winter: skiing and snow tubing. Summer: sprawling outdoor play area with go-karts, freefalls and water slides • Taylor’s falls scenic boat tours are a 29-minute drive. Great for all ages. Guided tour with beautiful scenery. • Franconia Sculpture Park is a 25-minute drive with no entrance fee, donations only. Open year round, this fabulous 43-acre outdoor art sculpture park with over 100 contemporary ever-changing works along paths. Some picnic tables. Similar in style to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden but more interactive, touchable. • River’s Edge Apple River Tubing is a 12-minute drive. Tie tubes together or float separately for this leisurely scenic 2–3-hour experience. Bring water shoes, crocs or go in old tennis shoes as the river bottom is rocky to get in and out of the tube. • Stillwater River Boats is a 20-minute drive and great way to view the Wisconsin bluffs from the river, take in the underside of the St Croix Crossing bridge and have a meal at the same time. • St Croix Crossing bridge walk/hike/bike trail is a 20-minute drive to Houlton parking. Guest access Guests have full access to the house and grounds, except for two locked closets. These contain personal clothing stored by the house owners. Other things to note The house has fantastic amenities and features that we're sure our guests will thoroughly enjoy and all aim to provide a relaxing retreat. A guide book is available to guests to introduce the house and share tips for having a fun stay.
