Approximately in 2 miles is the Glade Springs Resort, a great place for golfers. Also you will find the Bluestone Dam and Lake as well as a few especially quaint shops: the Boho; Otter and Oak; Kurt Messer’s gallery of original arts and photography; and some cool restaurants. Even a coffee house, the Chestnut Revival, serving fresh ground coffee and delectable eats and the friendliest people in the world, both owners and visitors! You’ll find The Market on Market Square, delicious foods, brew and Gelato, as well as gifts. On the outskirt you’ll find THE Dairy Queen, known for THEIR hot dogs far and wide. And the town of Bellpointe, in front of the dam, usually bustling with families and fishermen and nightly baseball games (in season). And for the walkers, circle the neighborhood for a good 1.5 mile walk. Hinton also has a small golf course by the river, Willow Wood Golf Course and Country Club. Above the dam in Bellpoint (Hinton) turn right at Lilly Bridge you can enjoy the Bluestone Park and a community pool with water cool and clear and nestled against a forest of trees. Above Hinton, on Rt. 20, you will find Pipestem State Park. This park has stables for horse riding; a tram to take you to the bottom of the gorge; a lookout tower; a zip line; and a pool, open to the public.
