The space Welcome to Fancy Free - an Entertainer's Dream When I first stepped foot on this property it was 1982 and I was just a little girl. My uncle was a successful songwriter and manager of The Oak Ridge Boys publishing company. He and his wife took the royalties from his #1 hit Fancy Free by The Oak Ridge Boys and bought the little 1930’s bungalow that was originally on this property and turned it into my favorite place on earth. Fast forward to 2018 and my husband and I bought the property and built our very own dream home and it is still my favorite place on earth! This place is filled with country music memories from all of the stars and extremely talented writers that stayed a many a night right here. Walk through the house and you will see gold and platinum albums that tell a little bit of the history. If you are looking for an amazing Nashville experience, this is the place for you. We are located right in the middle of everything but with the beautiful wooded lot you feel far away from it all. Only one mile from the world-famous Bluebird Cafe and a couple of miles to Broadway, this is the perfect vacation spot. We are also two doors down from a great public park with tennis courts, a covered pavilion, basketball court, small baseball diamond and walking trail. Go a couple of blocks over and spend some time hanging out at Elmington Park where you will find the most amazing food trucks on the weekends! About 1.5 miles and you are at Centennial Park where you can tour the world’s only replica of The Parthenon and feed the ducks. About the House The main floor of our home was built with entertaining our large family and many friends in mind. With an open concept, our chef's kitchen opens up to a gorgeous gas fireplace with comfy living area. Our oversized 9' island seats six to hang out while cooking or just relaxing in the kitchen area together. The breakfast area has a generous round table that seats six. Open up the 16' disappearing glass door to extend the living space to the outdoors where we have a 12' dining table that seats 10 along with another gas fireplace, modern sectional couch and seating area, wet bar and television. There is a second deck that steps down from the screened-in main deck and houses a large 8 person hot tub. There is another large outdoor couch and seating area on the hot tub deck as well. This deck steps down into the large fenced in back yard perfect for the kids to play or the fur babies to run around. We also have a full bocce court and fire pit with four chairs between the two large maple trees. A third deck is off the other side of the main screened porch that has a large gas grill and cooking area. With a full Sonos sound system that includes the outdoor living space and the hot tub decks, you can enjoy music while relaxing around the fire pit or playing bocce or chilling in the hot tub. The Kitchen You will be in heaven in this $100,000 chef's dream! Every conceivable luxury has been thought of in this kitchen. Starting with a $20,000 Thermador Range with Commercial Grade Vent Hood. This range includes two full ovens, a griddle, a grill and six gas burners. The gas ovens also include Convection options and built-in thermometers to ensure your dishes are never overcooked. And never worry about filling those pots when cooking with the convenient pot filler installed at the oven. There are two Thermador blue diamond dishwashers to make cleaning up after your gourmet meal easy. Store plenty of groceries in the full size built-in Thermador refrigerator and full size built-in Thermador sub-zero freezer. Primary Suite After a long day you can look forward to retiring to the primary suite. With a super comfortable king size bed, a dedicated Sonos audio zone to play your own music throughout the suite and double french doors lead to the screened-in back porch with easy access to the hot tub. Not quite ready for bed? You can sit on the comfy leather couch in the seating area and curl up with your favorite book. Primary Suite Spa Or maybe you would prefer a glass of wine while you soak in the oversized bathtub and watch a little TV. Or grab your favorite drink and sit in the large double steam shower complete with two shower heads, two benches, two hand-sprayers (all controlled with their own water temperature), a rain-shower in the center and multiple aromatherapy steam shower heads to release the perfect relaxing aroma of your choice. Enjoy the warm heated floors throughout the primary bathroom. You will also have access to a full armoire with built-in drawers and hanging rack. Laundry Room This beautiful laundry room has plenty of room to catch up on your laundry during your stay with a full washer and dryer along with a pedestal washer for those small loads. The laundry is fully stocked with laundry detergent, fabric softener, scented laundry beads and environmentally friendly wool drying balls. An iron and ironing board are also available. Office Need to catch up on some work while you are away? No problem. Just escape to the private office perfectly nestled under the stairs. It is equipped with a WiFi printer, copier and scanner for your use. Also has a Sonos sound zone where you can listen to a little music while you work. Wifi is available throughout the house with boosters installed to cover the upstairs as well as the outdoor living space. Fiber 1Gig service provides plenty of bandwidth. Bonus Room This large bonus room can be used as a fun space for the kids or the adults to hang out. This great space is divided into three main areas. One has a life-size wall-mounted magnetic Tic Tac Toe board, a full-size foosball table and two Cordoroy Bean Bag Chairs (as seen on Shark Tank) that each convert to a surprisingly comfortable full size bed. The gaming area is equipped with a couch that converts to a bed, a 60” Roku TV, miscellaneous games a shuffleboard and vintage Ms. Pacman. The third area has its own TV for either watching TV while someone is gaming on the other TV or for our favorite thing - “KARAOKE!” We have a full karaoke setup with sound system with microphones and microphone stands. Just connect your phone or tablet to the Apple TV and stream all of the YouTube videos with lyrics to sing along. This is always the hit of Fancy Free! "Vintage Nashville" Bedroom This bedroom comes with an extremely comfy queen size bed, a desk, Roku tv, its own coffee station and a vintage 1964 RCA Victor vinyl record console player. Spin your favorite vinyl and enjoy the crackling sound that only a vintage record player can provide! We have even included a couple of records that include songs written on this very little piece of land! This bedroom shares a full bath with Hillbilly Highway. “Hillbilly Highway” Bedroom The Steve Earl hit Hillbilly Highway was co-written by my uncle, the original owner of this property, and was an homage to his road from Newton, MS to Nashville when he was only 14 years old. They began writing the song at William Lee Golden's beach house on ONO Island on the trip that secured Steve Earl's record deal with Tony Brown and MCA Records. After coming back to Nashville they finished writing Hillbilly Highway right here on the back porch and it became part of the award-winning Guitar Town album. At the 1986 ASCAP Country Music Awards, Steve Earle was the new hot artist with a Grammy Nomination for Guitar Town. Following the awards, he spent the night right here in this very spot :) This bedroom has a comfy queen size bed, tv and writing desk (in case inspiration strikes). This bedroom shares a full bathroom with Vintage Nashville. “Reba’s Room” Upstairs Master This bedroom has a queen size bed, Roku tv and its own full bathroom. Named for the Reba McEntire hit Red Roses that was written from this very place. Red Roses was on the Have I Got A Deal For You album that went Gold. I remember listening to the demo tape from the living room couch and thinking how clever those lyrics were. It was co-written with David Lee Murphy about 10 years before Party Crowd which they also wrote together. Parking Easily park eight cars in the parking area in the driveway and front of the house. Street parking in front of the property also available. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire house. We do have a closet and one upstairs room locked. However, those are not included in the listing. Everything you see listed has 100% guest access.
