The Blair House at Normandy
Enjoy a private suite in a 124-year-old Victorian home nestled in a historic village and conveniently located near a highway intersection. The state's oldest railroad line came through Normandy in 1853 and has frequent trains whistling for a crossing near our front porch. If you find trains romantic, enjoy. If not, be aware. Attractions include George Dickel, Jack Daniels and Nearest Green distilleries, river kayaking, a lake beach for swimming, dining and unique shops, all within 20 minutes. The space Located in the tiny railroad village of Normandy, our circa 1900 Victorian farmhouse is reminiscent of childhood visits to Grandma's with a front porch swing and sitting area for conversation, eating, or just plain ol' relaxing and watching the trains roll by. You'll have your own bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a private full bath with tub-shower, and a spacious fire-placed parlor for curling up with a book or magazine or watching a movie from the video library on a wide-screen. We'll provide the popcorn. The entire living suite is strictly private for your use only. Small children are not permitted. However, a single child twelve years and older may be considered with the understanding that the only additional sleeping accommodation is a sofa in the living room. There's room to stroll around the surrounding one-acre estate and relaxing in the tree-shaded lawn chairs. Of course, password protected wi-fi is always available. For breakfast, see the list of restaurants serving breakfast a short 10-minutes away in Tullahoma in the "Other Things to Note" section below. A mini-fridge and microwave are provided in the entry hall for your leftovers. Guest access A parking space is provided in front of the house. To check yourself in there's a key lock box on the front porch with a key to the front entry door and one for the French doors to your bedroom. The host will provide you with parking instructions and the combination code to the key lock box via the Airbnb app 24 hours before your designated check-in time. Guests have exclusive private use of the living room, a private bathroom, a coffee service area with mini-fridge and microwave in the entry hall, the front porch, and the surrounding grounds. There is a "Things You Need to Know" card on the writing desk in the bedroom with the wi-fi password and other essential information about your stay. Other things to note Breakfast and some local color are available with a 10-minute drive to Tullahoma. There's Damron’s at 714 Lincoln St.; or the Downtown Café at 119 N. Jackson St.; and the Waffle House at 1914 N. Jackson St. The SunDrop Café, our favorite at 217 NW Atlantic St., serves breakfast Tues-Sat from 8 am to 3 pm. Of course, there's the usual drive-thru fast-food restaurants on Highway 41-A, aka N. Jackson St., the same distance from the Old Farmhouse. Bell Buckle and Wartrace, two historic Victorian towns are located a short drive from Normandy on highway 269 and offer several unique gift shops, crafts and antiques. The Bell Buckle Cafe is a popular eatery with the locals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Do a search on your phone for serving hours before you go.
