The space The house was built in 1911 and retains original handcrafted woodwork, vaulted ceilings, original golden Hardrock Maple floors, exposed brick, and clawfoot bathtub of the period. It also boasts recently renovated kitchen and bathrooms along with a modern, open floor-plan. During the warmer months, enjoy a meal or cup of coffee on the patio in the spacious, fenced backyard. The front porch is also wonderful for enjoying a cup of coffee or a place to work outside. During the colder months, curl up with a blanket and a book (you'll find many on the shelves) while you enjoy a hot beverage in the well-appointed living room or gather together for a meal or board game around the dining room table. Three spacious bedrooms provide areas to both relax and work. All rooms host a queen bed and two bedrooms have a desk for when you need to get work or studying done. Many guests stay three or more weeks and we love hearing them say that they feel like they were at home! Guest access You/your party will be sole occupants of the home. The ground floor includes a half-bath, spacious living room, elegant dining room, and large, modern kitchen. In the kitchen, the dishes, cooking equipment, fridge, and tea/coffee items are at your disposal. Upstairs, are three bedrooms and a full bathroom. The third bedroom also houses a complimentary washer and dryer (some laundry pods are provided for your first load - you will need to provide your own detergent for additional loads). There is free off-street parking in our driveway, which is just to the left of the house, as well as locked and covered storage for your bicycle. You will be given the code for the front door the day prior to your check in-date. No keys or coordinating meeting times with the host needed! Access code to the house is changed after every guest for peace of mind. Other things to note If there's something holding you back from booking with us, please reach out! Since our home was built in the early 1900s, the stairs leading up to the second floor where all the bedrooms are located is a bit steeper than in modern homes. Decor/bedding may change as broken/dirty/seasonal items necessitate. We take care to keep things as close to the pictures as possible. Please remember this is a home and not a hotel. We ask that you would treat the space with care. If any problem arises, we will do our best to take action ASAP. The nearby T-intersection of Como Ave and Capitol Heights is tricky: it doesn't have any stop signs, and from only two directions are there Yield signs. Please drive defensively. We are in the city, so you may hear street noise sporadically through the day, though you don't need to worry about being kept awake at night since it's generally quiet outside after 6pm. Lawn care and snow removal happens on the schedule of the people we employ. They will knock before going into the backyard to mow. In the winter, it is important to pull up all the way to the fence to get the driveway as clear as possible. They will salt and there will be sand available for guest use if needed.
