Relax in the Heart of the Shenandoah Valley
Relax in a quiet country setting, in a large 1865 farmhouse, on a working farm. The space Red Vallee Farmhouse has been the home of the McClanahan family for more than one hundred years. The first McClanahan's to live and farm here were John William, wife Sally, and their three children Mildred, Paul William, and Alfred Eugene (Red). The farmhouse gets its name from Alfred (Red) and his wife Vallee, the parents of the present owner. The three bedrooms are named for their three children Jean, Nancy, and Sally who occupied those rooms. Growing up working and playing on the farm made for hundreds of memories. Horses, cats, and dogs were sources of enjoyment and entertainment for the three children of Red and Vallee. The ninety acre farm produces hay, wheat, corn, soybeans, and beef cattle. Many items in the house are original to the house. The breath-taking stairwell is a marvel credited to fine craftsmen of the 1800's. The architecture remains the same as when the home was built. Enjoy your stay and take care of this grand old farmhouse and its contents. Guest access Entire House
