We cannot accommodate cats. Other things to note The woodstove is not available for guests. The cottage faces the sunset, Blue Hill Mountain and Newberry Neck across the inter-coastal ocean area of Union River Bay. The confluence of fresh and saltwater create an interesting habitat for wildlife. A small set of wooden stairs steps down to a typical rich Maine tidal zone. At low tide rocks draped in thick tangle of yellow-green and brown-purple seaweeds (rockweed) surround our pebble beach and are an important part of our coastal ecosystem. The shore also has mussels and nooks for beachcombing and exploring. A year-round brook empties into the Bay on the south side of the property and encourages birds and other wildlife to visit the property. The large deck and balcony are great places to picnic or for sitting still and enjoying songbirds, ducks, loons, gulls, eagles, on occasion some wild turkeys, squirrels, even seals, and osprey, depending on the time of year.
