Normally wind speeds of 10-20 miles per hour, just depends(every days is different) which make it feel cooler than what it is. However, there are days when it is just a slight breeze but definitely tends to be 8-10 degrees cooler than Dallas. Goes the same for fall and winter-10 degrees colder than Dallas, so be prepared for temperature difference. Please note that y’all will be out in the country, so to be expected there may be wild animals(owls, rabbits, possum, snakes, road runners), insects and bugs(but thankfully I have not had any problems with mosquitoes). If y’all book, I expect guests to read this and not comment on bugs or wild animals because I am already disclosing that.already. When the wildflowers are out, there’s lots of different colors of butterflies. The pond normally brings one or two egrets or cranes, sometimes ducks and there are intervals when a whole flock of them are chilling at the pond. There are birds and I still have to do research on the kinds but I see a lot of long tail sparrows, woodpecker and every now and then I see a red Cardinal or blue jay. PLEASE NOTE, we do have a cat on premises. She takes care of mice and snakes. Please be kind to her. Neighbor feeds her. If you have other questions, please call me. I will send code prior to arrival Other things to note ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING, FIREWORKS OR ANY SORT OF SPARK in the grassy or outside areas. Our area has been dry for the last few months and can easily catch fire and spread FAST. In fact there was a fire a few miles away and it took 24 hours to contain. Remember, this is a small town and they don’t have the resources that big cities have. However, now that it’s cooler weather, using fire pit is much safer. There will be lots for fire pit available. Charcoal is in pantry for barbecue, grill is at front porch. Carport is off limits, in carport or behind it. All materials are for future projects for this property. Please don’t allow kids to play around carport area. To the back,of the property is a long clear meadow, ravine at the copse of trees for which there is a fence around it. We also have materials in the back meadow(way in the back and not easily visible), so please don’t have children wander off there. Please do not walk back of property since it is summer and there may be snakes and if not that, fire ants are active too. Front of property is where we usually walk, but still, be careful. Also, we have seen snakes in the pond, so please do not play in the pond. Thanks for your cooperation!
