Unplug in your own 3k sq ft private forest dome. Built by a Shenandoah Valley artist, this funky and fun geodesic dome has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 soaking tubs, Nintendo, books, games, piano, ping-pong, and a deck to watch the stunning stars on at night. 10 min to Grand Caverns, Valley Pike, vineyards, middle river, and many hiking trails. Near JMU. Enjoy the birds, bunnies, and deer. Groove to our record collection, tour vineyards, workout, or reconnect with friends, family, and yourself. The space The dome was built by a local artist in the late 70s, inspired by dome-master Buckminster Fuller and updated again in 2021 to showcase the original retro vibes, but with new, modern twists. The house is on 18+ acres of forested land on a hillside. There is a front and side yard that is mowed and plenty of woods to explore for the more adventurous. You'll enter from the back deck into an open-concept living area with a dining room, kitchen, coffee bar, and a large living room with high, rounded ceilings and large windows. Off the main circular living room, there is another den with a video game station, yoga mats, and home fitness gear, as well as a boho floor bed for extra sleeping. Upstairs there is a master loft king-bed bedroom, a bathroom with a soaker tub and shower, and a separate, open office area with a writing desk. Downstairs there is another master suite with a king-bed, an ensuite bathroom, walk-in closet, and a daybed for extra sleeping, as well as a table and coffee station. There are two additional bedrooms on the main floor, off the den, and both contain desks. These bedrooms share the main floor bathroom and shower. One main floor bedroom contains a queen bed. The other is a "kids" room with a full and single bunk bed. In total, the dome has: 2 King beds 1 Queen bed 2 full beds 2 single beds. There is an additional desk and printer in the basement foyer. Guest access Guests have access to the full property, except for the owner's closet and boiler room in the basement and the garage. These areas will be locked during your stay, Other things to note Please note, there is a friendly, outdoor cat named Polly who lives at the dome in a little house under the deck. She moved in on her own, but we treat her like a queen and she is up to date on all her shots and wears a flea and tick collar. Many guests enjoy interacting with her. However, since she is an outdoor cat, she hunts, so if you put her on your lap, make sure you're wearing pants, as her claws are sharper than a house cat's claws. Do not let her inside under any circumstances, as my mother and I are allergic to cats. Massages and personal training sessions can be coordinated for you at an additional fee. Horseback riding, kayaking, tubing, and organic farm visits are available in the area. The property is not fenced on the sides, only along the front road. If you'd like to hike up behind the dome and through the woods, chat with us first so we can explain the property boundaries. Please note that the Internet at the dome is "country Wi-Fi" not "city Wi-Fi." You can stream Netflix etc. on the main TV, but in general, the Wi-Fi is best when used on one device to stream at a time. Att, Verizon, and Tmobile work at the dome but are on country speeds, not city speeds. This is not fast internet. We've tried, but they just don't offer fast internet here. So come to relax and not work! We do not guarantee high-speed Internet. Please see our house rules for details on wildlife.
