Truly a unique cabin, Raven Haus is tucked into a grove of towering redwoods and firs in historic Rio Nido. Originally hand built by loving owners in 1925, but was left in disrepair. Recently renovated with modern accommodations like central heat & custom 3-pane stained glass windows to keep the original character. This home is cozy and warm with all the fall & winter vibes in the cooler weather. In the summer it’s just as great as the house stays 10-15 degrees cooler than its surroundings naturally, from being built into a hill side. The views of the trees are so relaxing. The stacked cabin has 3 tiers. The lower laundry room, the middle area with a leather chesterfield sofa sleeper & fireplace, an alley kitchen, small dining table, two bedrooms and bathroom. The top floor houses a large room with a wood fireplace & library nook. Off the main living room is an interior bedroom with bookshelf, queen bed and ‘kids’ Harry Potter double closet that can be set up with pillows if a kid wanted to camp out. A room off the kitchen includes views of the redwoods canopy via the skylights & views of the neighboring Redwood tree trunks from a queen size bed. The bathroom is between the bedrooms with its own entrance and separated shower area so the toilet be used if someone is in the shower. It boasts the original 1800s water closet style toilet from san francisco, a bronze farmhouse sink and custom recycled tile mosaic floor. THE SHOWER is one of the most unique things about this cabin. Originally built outside of the house (it was a summer cabin :). It has since been enclosed with garden stone walls & roof. It still gives the vibes of showering outside but it’s cozy, spacious and protected from all the elements. Very cool to shower in a rainstorm as the warm water pours over you with views of the rain & trees above you. The kitchen has salvaged emerald quartz countertops, ‘Cafe’ brand double oven, vintage style microwave, high quality kitchen utensils and knives, Keurig or regular drip style coffee makers & built-in style slim fridge & an additional mini fridge for beverages. Large front deck connects to the Main floor with comfortable loungers, seating, a Traeger smoker & nice gas grill hooked up to main propane tank so you’ll never run out. Great views throughout the day. The ‘master’ upstairs has a California King bed with wood head board & handmade Aireloom mattress, wood fireplace, cathedral window with view of redwoods & a 7’ skylight over the bed. The side tables have vintage brass candelabra lamps with flame bulbs for mood lighting. The moody master bedroom connects to a library nook and a back redwood patio deck with a 2-3 person cozy jetted hottub. This arts and crafts style cabin has a bold, moody feel. The beauty of the dark wood paneling & walnut floors is complimented by the multiple skylights, dormers and windows of the surrounding forest so you get an authentic cabin feel. There is so much detail to this cabin, you must see it to fully appreciate it.
