Our family has been living next to and visiting Lake Algonquin for sixty years, and we hope you love our Grandma Betty and Grandpa Bud's house as much as we do! The view of the lake and the mountain is gorgeous in all seasons. Enjoy the 3.5 mile walk around it, swim, kayak, play lawn games, and make s'mores around the campfire at night. There are plenty of hikes to nearby waterfalls, and Gore Mountain is nearby for all the winter sports you'd ever want. Come visit! No pets, parties or smoking. The space Ours is a cozy three bedroom, 1.5 bath place. Two of the rooms have full-size beds, and the third bedroom has a twin bed and bunk beds on the other side. This is our home that we use as well, so the kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, dishes, knives, glassware, spices and other amenities provided. The rest of the house is decorated with antiques, and knickknacks from Grandma's travels all over the world. It may be an older home, but of course we have wi-fi, a Sonos speaker, and more. We also have two baby girls, so there's a pack 'n' play, toys, crayons, kids' books, games, and more to entertain the little ones. That said, we try and spend the majority of our time (in warmer weather) outside. The huge lawn is all yours to play in. Grill your dinner, play lawn games, build a fire in the pit, and enjoy the spectacular view. We've got two kayaks (one double) for you to use, and you can walk right into the water, or swim off the dock. Bring water shoes, as it can be rocky (we leave some here if you forget). Guest access We don't get to spend as much time here as we'd like, so the whole house is yours except a basement for mechanical things/storage, and an outdoor garage with some tools and whatnot. We'll give you a code for the keypad, no keys to worry about. Other things to note We're right in the middle of the town of Wells. It's sleepy and peaceful, but you can walk to the Lakeside General Store, or the basketball/tennis courts and playground across the street. We're also in the middle of the Adirondack Park, six million acres of unspoiled mountains, forests, and waterways. Take a drive up to the High Peaks area to see some incredible mountain views or visit one or more of the many State Parks in the area where you can hike, picnic, swim, kayak, and generally explore. If you're a skier, the house is just 25 minutes (16 miles) from Oak Mountain, 38 minutes (29 miles) from Gore Mountain, and 30 minutes (21 miles) to Lapland Lake Nordic Ski Resort. You could also just snowshoe or cross country ski across the lake or on one of many local trails. There are occasionally car races on the lake (it freezes solid), and there's always snow in the winter for the kids to play in.
