The space The Space This meticulously restored 18th century farmhouse features an airy sunlit space with exposed original wood beams and raised ceilings throughout. Our saltwater pool and spa sparkle and invite soaking and floating before giving way to carefully curated landscaping that blends seamlessly into the surrounding nature preserve. The property balances seclusion with quick access to shopping/dining right off the main road. Living Area The downstairs features a spacious living room with a wood burning fireplace, a contemporary den to relax in with with plenty of seating to watch movies, read or listen to music, a large gourmet chef’s kitchen with a walk-in pantry, a family room including a sitting area and desk/art space for kids to get creative— including a closet filled with arts and craft supplies and games. Bedrooms The house on the hill features five main bedrooms and a sixth flex small office that can sleep one, or be used for remote work. Each room features ductless heating and cooling units for exceptional climate control. The first bedroom is accessed off of the library on the main floor. The second two bedrooms are accessed from the living room stairs which take you to two bedrooms each with two single beds that can be turned into kings if needed, and a full sized shared bathroom with a tub and a kid's play area. The play space includes a sitting area, a closet full of toys, a flat screen TV and stylish comfortable sofa. This area has some of the best views in the house with a deck off the play space where you can enjoy a morning cup of coffee. The additional staircases which are off of the den and library lead up to the second floor where you will find the master bedroom with a king bed, ensuite bathroom and a deck to watch the sunset, as well as a separate second bedroom with a queen sized bed and ensuite bathroom, and a laundry room equipped with washer/dryer and drying rack. The third floor can be accessed from this level and has an office that can be turned into an extra bedroom if needed with an ensuite bathroom complete with a tub. There is an outdoor dining table with chairs to seat 8, and two smaller tables spread around the property to enjoy breakfast, lunch or sunset snacks after relaxing in the pool. Beyond the pool is an additional seating area with Adirondack chairs and outdoor sofa. The pool has ample deck chairs with cushions, umbrellas and endless floats and pool toys for the kids. Nestled beside the barn is a playground equipped with swings, monkey bars and a clubhouse with a park bench for tired legs. There is a basketball hoop beneath the barn. From the edge of the property is a walking trail that leads through the nature preserve to a beaver dam and sitting area that is perfect for bird watching. There is also a door off the kitchen that leads to the front patio equipped with a BBQ for grilling, a smoker, and a comfortable seating area. Other things to note The house has central air/heat, remarkably fast and reliable WIFI, sonos music system with speakers throughout the house and on the outdoor back patio, as well as ample parking on the private driveway. Baby furniture is provided. There is a travel crib as well as a Stokke tripp trapp chair, with many children's cups, dishes and placemats. The pool is open during summer months from early May to Labor Day. Guests cover pool heat charges and an official meter reading will be sent at the end of the stay. It is best if guests avoid having the heater on all day at the highest setting as it can be expensive. The property is minutes from the villages of Litchfield or Bantam with charming shops, grocery stores and restaurants including Arethusa for ice cream, Bantam Bread for fresh bread and pastries and within walking distance to Litchfield’s premier Day Spa! Enjoy boating on Bantam Lake or hiking trails at White Memorial just a few minutes down the road. Less than 30 minutes to skiing, one hour to Bradley Airport and less than 10 minutes to Route 8.
