Le' Chateau Douillet in French means: "Cozy and Comfort". That is the feeling we wish to convey during your stay. You may enjoy reading a book in the rear courtyard or hear the sound of cascading water from the imported marble fountain (seasonal). You will often see/hear birds as they visit the feeder station or catch the chiming of the grandfather clock in the entry hall. There is a player piano in the "Music Room" that may play some familiar tunes...(upon request). The space This historic turn of the century Renaissance mansion has oversized bedrooms decorated in a French Provincial style with ensuite baths. The first floor entry and Music/Sitting room are paneled in native walnut with rosette embellishments and crown molding. Tucked back off the main road, guests can enjoy the private grounds. The rear garden courtyard showcases an imported marble fountain while the side terraced courtyard showcases an imported marble gazebo. The grounds are lit up in the evening. Guest access Guests have access to their bedroom with ensuite tub/shower. There is also a "GUEST SERVICES" area in the adjoining hall. Refrigerator, toaster oven microwave, coffee and hot water makers as well as supplies are provided. Guests are invited to enjoy the front entry hall, music/sitting room, dining room and library areas. Access to grounds are available only to guests, unless otherwise approved by prior to arrival. During your stay I will be available to answer questions on site. Also, you may reach me by text. (Number provided prior to arrival) Other things to note HISTORY: The Mansion was built in 1929 by Architect John Banard for Industrialist Clarence J. and Grace H. Schoo. Clarence was a long time friend of President Eisenhower who affectionately referred to Clarence as "Schooey." The property was constructed by Fred T. Ley & Associates, the Springfield firm said to have also built Rockefeller Center in New York City.
