Camped Inn at Sundial Farm -- Tiny House
Camped Inn at Sundial Farm is located just north of New York City, less than 40 minutes driving distance and 45 minutes via express train from Grand Central Station. The tiny house is a one-of-a-kind, off-the-grid experience surrounded by the natural beauty of Westchester County’s oldest working farm. This is a unique experience in sustainable travel and aims to bring guests back to a simpler time; back to nature in a meaningful way, allowing you to rest, unwind, and restore. The space Camped Inn is a 170-square-foot tiny house with a loft. The home is thoughtfully and artfully designed; outfitted with high-end bedding, which includes a queen-size mattress in the loft, soft linens, supportive, foam-adapting pillows, and comfy throw blankets that provide a finishing touch. The sitting area in the main cabin provides plenty of space, seating, and light. The sofa is custom-made and pulls out into a full-size bed. Outside the home, relax on the deck just off the pond or at the fire ring, which is made from large stones found on the farm. Staying at Camped Inn at Sundial Farm is not like renting a hotel room or a traditional house. You are staying in relative seclusion on a farm, tucked away near the woods, next to an apple orchard; and you are sleeping in a comfortable and well-maintained tiny home. You have access to the farm and are minutes away from virtually any activity you can think of – should you choose to venture out. Check out campedinn dot com to learn more about the house! Guest access Guests have full walking access to the farm, however, please do not enter the greenhouses. In addition, the cottage, house, and pool – those beyond the greenhouses – are private property. Other things to note *PLEASE READ NOTES BELOW* WE ARE OFF GRID -- That means we do not have traditional power. We have a solar generator for the basics (lights, fans, cell phone charger, etc.). It's super simple and awesome. We use a solar generator because producing electricity this way can drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We’ve gone solar because we want to be part of the solution. YES, there is a heated shower ; ) NO FLUSH TOILET -- First, don’t panic! Since we are off-the-grid, the house does not have a flush toilet. Instead, it is outfitted with a waterless toilet. It’s clean, simple to use, and simple to maintain. You do your business and simply toss it out. We use a waterless toilet to eliminate the need for flushing, thus significantly reducing water use and its overall impact on the environment. We use an INSULATED COOLER instead of a powered refrigerator. NO WIFI -- Cell service works perfectly at the house and on the farm, but bring your a hotspot if you need to access the internet on your computer (although we do encourage you to unwind without it!). The home and the farm are meant to be an experience. This means making your own fire, getting your boots muddy, working the solar generator, living in a small space, walking through the farm at night, cleaning up before you leave, etc. We try to be as upfront as possible about this amazing property and home – but it’s not for everyone. It’s not a hotel room and the experience is not designed that way. So, please understand what you are getting into before you book; bring proper attire, toss in a flashlight, and be ready to learn about solar energy! Lastly, we aim to be one of the leaders of sustainable travel, giving guests an experience that balances comfort while modeling best practices. For every booking, Dave and I have pledged to plant a tree. Planting trees can increase the resilience of ecosystems and help minimize climate change effects. By booking with us, you are helping to support this cause - so thank you.
