Get away to a cozy VT back road guest house surrounded by nature. Walk, ski or bike the quiet dirt road, hike or snowshoe on property trails available right from your door, enjoy laying in the hammock by the pond or spend the night in the pond house listening to the natural sounds and watching the stars. Every season is special with fall foliage, winter activities, summer concerts on the common and lakes nearby for fishing, swimming or paddling. Many interesting possible day trips await you. The space The guest cottage is bright and sunny. It has a fully equipped kitchen and an open design dining and living room with a gas fireplace. The bathroom has a claw foot tub/shower combination and is located downstairs. There are two bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen bed and one with a double bed. The single bedroom is downstairs. Sheets, towels, and paper products are provided. There is a mudroom/entry room for shedding winter clothing and boots and with the north facing window can be used as an office space. Dependable high speed fiber WiFi is provided. Guest access The property is 68 acres with forests and fields and the Wild Branch River running through it, all ready to be explored using a number of open trails. Guests have access to the mowed lawn area and pond, and share the driveway with the owner. There is room for two guest vehicles to park next to the guest house. The property is remote and private with the only visible houses in the valley view to the south. There are multiple seating areas set up outside; by the fire pit, by the pond and pond house, in the guest house back yard, and on the open porch shared with the owner. Perfectly dark night skies allow for viewing stars, planet's and possible northern lights. Clear, full moon nights provide enough light to snowshoe or take a walk. Relax, have fun and reconnect with nature and each other; get away from the busy stressful world we all live in and enjoy this natural setting, abundant wildlife, peace and quiet. No fire arms, hunting, ATV’s, or snowmobiles allowed. An outside enclosed building is available for skies, snowshoes, hiking gear, bikes, etc. Two friendly dogs live on the property and are supervised or with me when outside. No other pets are allowed on the property. Due to the remote location, river and pond access this property is not suited for children under 12. Other things to note There are many quaint towns and villages in the North East Kingdom of VT where we are located, that have a variety of dining establishments. The Wellness Cafe and Blackbird Bistro here in Craftsbury and the Highland Lodge in Greensboro offer dining opportunities close to home. Greensboro has Willey’s Historic General Store and the Highland Center for the Arts, a wonderful performance center, all less than a half hour away. The closest laundry and larger grocery stores are in the towns of Hardwick and Morrisville VT. Both less than a half hour away. Craftsbury is a 45 minute drive in a westerly direction to Stowe, VT. A charming ski village with its restaurants, shops, recreation path, and the scenic drive over smugglers notch. Heading north about the same distance is Jay Peak ski resort with downhill skiing and a new indoor water park open year around. The small city of Newport, also 45 minutes north, is on the shores of beautiful Lake Memphremagog, a large international lake shared with Canada. Montpelier our capital city is about the same distance south and is a quaint capital with interesting shops, theater and restaurants. St. Johnsbury is again less than an hour away heading east, and boasts the Fairbanks Museum and planetarium as well as an interesting Main Street for shopping.
