It is a charming modern waterfront apartment retreat with sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Shrewsbury River in Highlands, NJ. It is part of a two-family home with its own private and separate entrance, cozy indoor gas fireplace and backyard access with its own BBQ grill. You will enjoy privacy while being minutes away from the beach and other activities this area has to offer. It is located ¼ mile from Sandy Hook, one of the most picturesque beaches on the Jersey Shore, with multiple beaches including Gunnison. If you like running, biking or hiking, you’re in luck! You’ll find yourself only minutes away from Hartshorne Woods Park, a 650+ acre park with tons of biking and hiking trails. You can go to the beach in the morning, have lunch on the deck and be hiking at Hartshorne Woods by the afternoon. The apartment features two bedrooms and one bathroom. The master bedroom is equipped with a queen-size bed with sheets, pillows and blankets. It has a 50” flat screen television featuring Netflix and Amazon for your streaming pleasure. The second bedroom features a day bed with a pullout to easily convert to a full-size bed to comfortably sleep two people. It also has sheets, pillows and blankets. The living room features a large wooden farm dining table and a flat screen television with YouTube TV. It has a well-amended open kitchen with granite countertops, stainless-steel appliances (refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave), wine refrigerator and everything you need to make a great meal at home. Many people come here to enjoy sunbathing, surfing, fishing, wind surfing, boating and to experience all this area has to offer. Located just an hour from New York City by car or by the Seastreak ferry. The Seastreak ferry operates from Manhattan from East 34th Street (1-hour ride) or from downtown at Pier 11 (40-minute ride). Taking the ferry is part of the Highlands experience, when you get here, you will feel welcomed with old-fashioned charm and friendly faces. Its accessibility from both the NY tri-state area makes it a quick and easy getaway. Jersey’s long tradition of maritime heritage is its lighthouses, marinas and coastal heritage trails. One of Highlands most famous attractions is the Navesink Twin Lights. This historic site features a lighthouse open to the public and museum located less than 5 minutes from the apartment with a panoramic view overlooking the Sandy Hook Bay, New York City, the entrance to the New York Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean. It is the highest elevation point on the eastern seaboard of the US. You can climb the lighthouse to this highest point. The view is spectacular and is worth the visit. Highlands is home to nearly twenty great restaurants in ½ square mile offering all types of cuisines. Some offer waterfront dining as well as “Dock and Dine” for boaters. There are also great bars featuring lively nightlife. Highlands is located nearby towns such as Sea Bright, Red Bank, Monmouth Beach, Rumson, Asbury Park and Ocean Grove. Interaction with guests: We are available by phone, email or text for assistance during your stay. If you are staying on weekends, it is likely we will be in the upstairs apartment to assist you as needed. Lizette and Lorine (We) provide a guest guidebook which we can email in advance. We leave a copy in the apartment. Additionally, we are happy to give you directions, answer questions, help plan your activities, suggest restaurants or anything else you may need in order to plan your time here with them. Other things to note We provide a beach pass to Sandy Hook (free parking with the pass) valid from Memorial Day - Labor Day. The beach is free during the off-season. The apartment is self check-in (contactless). It has a keypad lock with a code to enter. We will provide the morning of your check-in date by text or phone. Note: the door code is changed with each guest.
