Old world charm - welcome to Fern Manor
"Fern Manor" was built in 1890. The tale of this house is that it was built for a never married daughter of the Wallace family. The Wallace’s also lived right next door in the original building. “Wallicia”, the original house, was the family homestead. One of the members of the family was Dr. William S. Wallace, brother-in-law and doctor to Abraham Lincoln. The space Fern Manor does not lack character. The outside of this house has a slight "gingerbread house" feel. The original details on the peaks of the house and windows add to that old world charm. When you walk around to the back of the house you can see the same detailing on the back porch which is a great place to relax and drink your morning coffee. During the Spring and Summer months the house is surrounded by beautiful foliage and sweet perennials. It blooms in all different colors making the perfect spring scene. The abundance of ferns around the house gave birth to its name over a century ago. Even though the house has been renovated and includes many modern conveniences, the old world charm has been preserved. From the abundance of the original wood-work to the grand staircase you’ll find master craftsmanship throughout. This one of a kind stay in the heart of Lancaster County is a very unique opportunity to visit the past and get a glimpse of time that's been long gone.
