Enchanting hand-built off-grid cabin overlooks the Missouri River bottom, nearby bluffs, and scenic, peaceful 177 acre farm -Close to Columbia, Hermann & Jeff City -Spacious studio-style bedroom -Large sunny windows -Outdoor kitchen -Screened-in porch -Fire pit -Incredible views, total stargazers dream -Pets OK! Secluded & surrounded by nature, find yourself restored after hiking, antiquing, cooking, or drinking wine and taking in the beautiful surroundings. Glorious glamping! The space The Moon-Rise Cabin sits atop a ridge overlooking the 177 acre farm and surrounding conservation land ridges. The views from this private little solar powered, off-the-grid getaway are stunning! THE CABIN The cabin is equipped with solar powered lights, phone and computer charging stations, a propane powered heating system and kitchen range. Cold running water flows in the kitchen sink located in the hand built screened in porch and also in the outdoor shower - perfect for cleaning up after a long summer's day of hiking trails or biking on the Katy Trail. This is a unique home that will make for a totally unique stay. LIVING SPACE The indoor living space consists in a queen bed and convertible sofa or futon for seating or an additional sleeping place if you want to bring friends (max 4). OUTDOOR KITCHEN The outdoor kitchen (on the screened-in porch) includes a gas range for cooking and making morning coffee, and comes equipped with utensils, pots, pans, dish ware, etc. FRONT PATIO The front patio overlooks the incredible 170 acre farm and Missouri river bottom and affords great views of sunsets, sunrises, stars, and in the right season, lightning bugs!! BATHROOM There is a very clean porta potty nearby for the bathroom. OUTDOOR COLD SHOWER We jhave an outdoor shower for your convenience. NOTE: COLD WATER ONLY. It's not glamorous by any means, but it works! You can also swim in the pond or nearby beautiful Hart Creek to cool down or rinse off. We provide towels! (PLEASE ALSO NOTE: The shower is not available during the winter due to freezing temperatures that make the shower inoperable.) WILDLIFE Warmer months you'll surely encounter some of the resident tree frogs, birds, peregrine falcon, bald eagles, worms, Gary the groundhog, possums, snakes, armadillos, insects, dragon flies, bumblebees, lightning bugs, deer, wild flowers, trees, grass, turtles, fish and celebrity Justin Beaver. POND We have a small pond on the farm. As it is fed by both rain and a little spring, the water level depends on how much rain we've gotten - if we've gotten a lot of rain and there isn't a lot of duckweed growing, you can enjoy a good swim! You can also swim in the nearby beautiful Hart Creek (it also runs on our property) to cool down or rinse off. We provide towels. FISHING We also invite you to fish in our pond. You are welcome to keep and eat any fish that you like, with the exception of all bass under 12 inches. Please be sure to release these until they get to breeding age in order to help us ensure the healthiness of our pond. Anything larger than 13 inches is all yours! ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATIONS We have another cabin on the property that sleeps 2, and a farmhouse that sleeps 6. Please inquiry if you'd like to make a family or friends trip to the farm! NOTE: This is comfortable glamping, and the cabin sits on 177 acres of nature. It might be hot. It might be cold. In the summertime there will be bugs, including ticks on the trails. We provide some bug spray, but bring your own to help. The outdoor kitchen is well equipped but rustic. It is thoroughly cleaned after each guest's stay; but since it is OUTDOORS, it may show signs of outdoor exposure, including dust. Please come with reasonable expectations so you will have a delightful stay! Guest access Guests of the Moon-Rise cabin will have the place all to themselves and may avail themselves of the trails and ponds located throughout the farm. Other things to note Hart Creek Conservation Trailhead just down the road is a lovely hike to the Missouri River Overlook. Katy Trail Access at Hartsburg is an easy bike along Hart Creek. PET FEE: Well-behaved pets are welcome with a $25 fee (per pet) per stay. Please inquire about our pet policy. UNAUTHORIZED LATE CHECKOUTS: Unauthorized late checkouts are not allowed and will be billed at $25/hr in hourly increments. Please be respectful of our housekeer's time and be sure to checkout on-time.
