Other things to note Lake Ann is a 525 acre - all sports lake that is part of the Platte River water shed. The headwaters of the Platte River drain into Lake Ann and the start of the Platte River flows out of the South end of the lake. This ensures very clean water in the lake. Our beach area has 40 feet of frontage with a firm, sandy bottom (no weeds or muck) and a nice drop off. It is ideal for young kids to play in the water. Some of the best fishing on the lake is right off the end of the dock. Lake Ann has very good fishing for Small Mouth Bass, Large Mouth Bass, Rock Bass, bluegill, pike and perch. Enjoy watching the nesting pair of bald eagles fish the lake and listen to the sound of the Loons as they call to each other and their young every summer. The lake has a public boat launch that is easy to access. Boat traffic is very light even on the weekends. It never seems busy like many of the other lakes in the area or farther south. There are no-wake hours on the lake from 7:30 PM until 11AM every night to allow time for the fisherman to enjoy the lake. The best thing about Lake Ann is its location. We are located 15 miles west of downtown Traverse city, 10 miles from Interlochen, 20 miles from Sleeping Bear National Park, 15 miles to Lake Michigan (Esch Park), 20 minutes to Glen Lake, 30 minutes to Leland or Suttons Bay, tons of wineries, and lots of breweries. Lake Ann Brewery is right across the street and was voted one of the best places to see live music in northern Michigan with a different live band playing almost every night during the summer. Enjoy excellent food at the Stone Oven and the convenience of having Lake Ann Grocery store basically right at your back door. If they don’t have it, you don’t need it. If you love to hike, bike or explore then this is also a fantastic area. There are numerus hiking trails within a few miles of Lake Ann with many more in the Grand Traverse Area and Leelanau. This area was voted as one of the most beautiful areas in the United States and one hike overlooking the blue waters of Lake Michigan and the Manitou Islands you will see why for yourself.
