Nestle into the warm glow of a gas fireplace or watch for deer and wildlife from the deck or living room. This is a perfect retreat space for one or two people; it is not appropriate for parties. One Queen bed with a natural latex topper and down comforter, a table for two, and a well-equipped kitchen make it easy to retreat in front of the warm fireplace, gaze out the picture windows at the native oaks and bay trees, and forget all about the city’s hustle. Wood floors are cool! Bring your slippers or fuzzy socks to stay cozy. The coastal fog is a natural air conditioner, none is needed indoors. Escape the summer heat and enjoy the tree-filtered light and cool ocean breezes. The cottage is a scent-free environment. Please refrain from perfumes or synthetic fragrances in the air or on the linens, as they are EXTREMELY hard to remove for our chemically sensitive guests and staff. We supply scent-free soap, shampoo, and body oil for your use if you need it. We truly appreciate your cooperation with this house rule. Guest access Cross the footbridge across the seasonal creek into a magical forested hillside. Self-check-in unlocks your private paradise, a studio cottage, with outdoor living on the deck nearly doubling the space inside. Lower hillside borders on valley pasture land. From the sun-filtered deck, listen to whispering leaves, lowing cows, hooting owls, and neighboring horses and goats. There are about 100 feet to walk from the parking to the cabin. Though the cabin is built on the hillside, the parking area, footbridge, and gravel paths are totally flat with just three steps onto the deck. Have your flashlight ready, if you arrive after dark. We have motion sensor lights on the path, but it’s really dark in the country and a flashlight will help! Other things to note We have an on demand water heater and the well water is safe to drink. We maintain a scent-neutral environment using all-natural, non-toxic cleaning and laundry supplies. No cigarette smoking is allowed on the property. No vaping or incense inside the cottage, please! High-speed internet and your laptop allow you to work remotely or stream videos. Note: There is no TV provided. You can also unplug the router and be in a wifi free zone- your choice! Because of wildlife and poison oak, we require any pets to remain leashed and not run on the property. Please let us know if you plan to bring a pet and tell us a little about it. In the event of a power outage, the generator will automatically provide electricity between 7 am and 11 pm. But the gas fireplace will still keep you warm by using the manual switch on the left rear corner of the fireplace. The kitchen stovetop can be ignited with the lighter provided. If there is no electricity the well will not pump water between 11 pm and 7 am, but the refrigerator will stay cold overnight. So, don't flush until morning. One gallon of bottled water is supplied in the pantry for drinking. An emergency 5 gallons of water is in the pantry if needed for flushing or anything else. Be sure to text if you have a question.
