Charming Farm House on Working Farm
Das Hühnerstall is exactly that, a vintage 100 year old chicken house. During the turn of the last century this property raised thousands of chickens. The original Stottlemyers migrated from the east to take up the farming life, and 6 generations later fowl and livestock are still raised on the property. Like many things on a farm, the house has gone through many transformations, being reused and repurposed. We cant wait to share this unique home and history with all of our guests. The space The home is cozy and ready for your visit. Each room has its own baseboard heater and thermostat to warm up the winter days. In the summer the majestic maples give plenty of shade, with an open window and a fan the rooms stay pleasant. -1 bedroom with a queen bed and reading chair -1 bedroom with 2 twin beds and reading chair -Office space with desk, monitors, keyboard, mouse and USB/C docking station -Living room with sofa and two chairs -Dining room with table that seats 4. -Full kitchen. -Full bathroom with tub - Full laundry room - Outside table and chairs There is a wood burning stove in the home, however, at this time it is out of service, any attempt to start a fire will result in reservation termination immediately. Guest access Given the vintage of the home some of the door ways are more narrow than what is common in modern construction. Parking is directly in front of the home with no stairs to access the house, and only one step into the covered porch. The door is locked with a code which will be messaged to you prior to check in time on the day of your reservation. Other things to note This is a working farm, and comes with all the sights, sounds and sometimes smells there-of. We hope that you find it relaxing as you get back to the roots of life. However, if roosters crowing, lambs bah-ing, and turkeys gobbling is not your idea of relaxing, this might not be the best fit for your stay in the Pacific Northwest. There are working barn cats on the property, they are very friendly and love a good scratch under the chin, but no matter what they tell you, they are not to be inside the house. We have a friendly farm dog that helps around the property, he roams the full acreage and likes to greet new guests. Please communicate any concerns about this with us directly. No guests allowed on property beyond total guest count on reservation without prior authorization. Unauthorized guests or pets on property could result in immediate termination of reservation and forfeiture of security deposit. Absolutely no smoking or vaping in the house or anywhere on the property. While staying on the farm we encourage guests to enjoy the out doors, and unplug from the rigors of busy life, read that good book you have wanted to for a while, take walks under the large maples, visit with the sheep, or sit and watch the honey bees hard at work. While we love the remote feeling of our property, it is close enough to town for all the local conveniences. Grocery stores, several restaurants and micro breweries are just a couple miles away. Enjoy exploring Little Norway and other local land marks here on the Kitsap Peninsula. The Hood Canal and Olympic Mountains are a haven for outdoor activities and are an easy drive from the farm. If the big city is calling you we are only a ferry boat ride away from Seattle via the Bainbridge Island or Kingston docks.
