Just minutes from JMU, EMU, and BC, our cozy, private renovated 1850's home is a perfect location to experience the serenity and calm of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Our home is nestled in the sleepy town of Dayton, VA, one of the most quaint and historic towns in the valley. Massanutten Resort and Shenandoah National Park are an easy 25 minute Drive away. From this home, you will be in close proximity to great restaurants, wineries, breweries and many outdoor activities. The space Overview: Our home is a newly renovated 1850s farmhouse. The property originates back to the Civil War era and has evolved as a property and eventually became a small farm back in the early 50s. It has been recently renovated and the home can host up to 8 people. Bedrooms: There are four bedrooms in this home: 1. Main floor bedroom: Queen size bed, built in closet and desk area. 2. Upstairs bedroom 1 : full-size bed, and sitting area. 3. Upstairs Bedroom 2/Master bedroom: King size bed, with sitting area. The master bedroom is very unique as it is part of the initial structure of the house built back in 1850's. Unique to this room is the ceiling height. The ceiling height upon entering the room via the hallway is roughly 6 feet tall and slopes slightly down as you go towards the back of the room. For our guest 5'8" or taller be prepared to duck slightly. 4. Bedroom 4/ children’s room (aka: The Ramp Room): This room has two single beds. It is perfect for two kids but can also accommodate two adults. *Important Note* You have to pass through the main master bedroom to get into the fourth bedroom. This part of the house was from the original 1850's construction, there is a slight slant of the floor, which adds to the uniqueness of the home, hence the name "Ramp Room". Dining room area: The dining room area contains two sitting areas as well as a large custom-made farm table that can accommodate 9 to 11 people. Kitchen: Our kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to make a full meal, bake, or just to eat takeout. It is equipped with a full coffee station, a drip coffee maker with bean grinder as well as a single cup Keurig and hot water carafe for tea. Living room: Large sofa, chair and 65 inch TV equipped with all the typical streaming apps needed for a great TV night. Some of the streaming apps will not have a subscription, so you might need to use your own credentials. Disney +, Netlfix, Prime and Hulu provided. Outdoor space: Fire pit and Pergola with egg chairs: Enjoy an awesome fire make s'more's and memories around a unique fire pits you experience. Back Patio dining area and Grill: Outdoor cast iron table with chairs to accommodate at least six people, w/ propane Weber grill. Surrounding acreage: Enjoy the outdoor wildflower garden, horseshoe pit, corn hole, blackberry bushes, fresh asparagus and the shade trees on the property. There is a large field to the right of the home to throw football, Baseball or frisbee. Front porch/side stone patio: Enjoy peaceful sunsets and listening to the click clack of passing horse and buggies from these locations. Don’t forget to grab your cup of coffee or tea. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire property except the green house, small barn on the back side of the property. Other things to note This home is located in walking distance to the Historic Silver Lake Mill(less the .5 miles). Once at the mill, you will have access to fishing and kayaking, and Just another 5 minute walk beyond the mill you will be in downtown Dayton. In Dayton you can experience unique shops, restaurants, and historical museum and sites. If you are coming for a JMU homecoming/parent weekend or just coming into town for the big football game... you can be at the Stadium or main campus within 10 minutes. Wine, Brewery and Distillery tours are very popular in the Valley. Within an hour radius of this home you will have access to more wineries, breweries, and distilleries than you would have time to experience in one weekend.
