Cozy house on seven wooded acres near Hamilton
The ideal combination of convenience and quiet privacy. Wooded seven acres beneath the Bitterroot Mountains. Ten minutes to Hamilton; one hour to Missoula. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, open-plan kitchen, living room, and dining room. Gas fireplace and stove. Kitchen fully stocked with everything you need and want. Laundry room. Beautiful new cedar deck with large barbecue and forest views. Property borders Mill Creek, a year-round stream. Super fast Starlink wifi. The space This little cabin is a bit rough and rustic on the outside (we're gradually fixing it up) but it's clean, cozy, and updated on the inside. We've just recently added a very spacious cedar deck with two levels off the back — it's about the same square footage as the house itself. There are bar stools and a dining table as well as a grill on the upper deck and an additional dining table on the lower deck. Enjoy privacy and a view over meadow and wood. Through the trees, get a glimpse of the Sapphire Mountains across the valley. Please note that the photos here were taken before a new house was built just across the road from ours. They're the only neighbors that can be seen from the house. When you're looking out back or sitting on the deck you won't see any houses — just trees, meadows, and wildlife. The kitchen is roomy and fully stocked with everything you need. A previous guest noted issues with the dishwasher — we've now replaced it with a brand new one. The open plan space leads to a dining area with large windows and forest views, and a cozy living area with a Roku TV and charming gas fireplace. The master bedroom is also heated by a cozy gas stove. Reclaimed wood floors throughout. Looking out the windows, we regularly see elk, deer, pheasants, quail, grouse, pine squirrels, marmots, owls and even on occasion bears or elusive pine martin up in the trees. One of the most unexpected features of this location is that it has seriously fast wifi thanks to a Starlink satellite. We live in this house during the summer and work remotely, with lots of video conferencing, and it's been seamless. Guest access Guests have access to the whole house. The pump house (the tall wooden tower) is for keeping the well pump heated so it doesn't freeze. It also serves as a place to put garbage so bears can't get to it. The other sheds are for host use only. The property is just over six acres. It begins at the bridge, on the left (or east) side and continues up to the house. Fences mark the south and east sides of the property, the road is the western boundary, and the creek is the northern boundary—don't cross the creek as then you will be on someone else's property. Feel free to explore within these bounds but be respectful of neighbors and stay on our property. If you have any doubt about the property lines, please ask us. If staying during the spring we kindly ask that you stick to walking on the road so that elk are not disturbed during calving as this will drive them away and no one will be able to enjoy their visits near the house.
