There ancestors left the Carolinas in search of religious freedom and freedom from taxes. Thus Eleuthera got is name which means Freedom. The island is known through the the Bahamas and the world for its friendly hardworking people and its safety and lack of crime. There are 7 great restaurants, 4 bars and the grocery store is second to none in the Bahamas. The boating is great. Deep sea, Bone Fishing, Reef Fishing, lobster diving, snorkeling, scuba diving, cliff diving beach combing and just plain relaxing are all available and a favorite pass time of visitors.
